Just booked!

My dad and I just finished booking me and my parents' trip to WDW July 13-20! On arrival day, we will get an afternoon flight and will spend the evening at DTD (any suggestions for dinner there?)

4 days will be Disney parks days, 1 will be for Universal and 1 will be for the sightseeing in Florida (we are renting a car & my dad has been wanting to go to the Kennedy Space Center for such a long time!)

We will be staying at AoA, and I am so excited to stay there this time. On my last trip to Disney in Sept., we stayed at Pop and crossed the bridge to check out AoA one night and I fell in love with the resort! So excited!!!

My only worry is the crowds. We usually go in rather chill crowd times (Dec 2010, Oct 2011, Sept 2012). I am studying up on making the best of this (my copy of the Unofficial guide is very helpful with that!). Any tips? (I will finally try at the "get to the park 30 mins before opening" rule... The book stresses it almost every page!)

Up Next: ADRs! ... so far I'm thinking BoG (that's going to be tricky getting a reservation, but hopefully!) for dinner one day and CP for breakfast another...

:)

On arrival day I'd go with T-Rex or House of Blues for dinner, or for something lighter, you can never go wrong with Earl of Sandwich. Only went once in July and that was many years ago and vowed never again, but I'm sure you will have a wonderful time despite the heat, humidity and crowds.

On a side note book a tour of the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy. Congrats on you upcoming trip and call right away to try to get into BOG if it's booked check back for cancellations often. Oh and in July I would be at the parks 45 minutes before open but that's just me!!

Remember that the early bird gets to ride:), in the peak seasons. Layer your clothes. I know that sounds crazy for the heat of summer, but the indoor attractions are kept very cold in the summer and after getting a little wet in a shower, that extra blouse can be used to change into if you haven't had to wear it yet. I also burn very easily even with block, so having a light weight blouse to slip on when walking in the sunniest places is a real life saver. Just a thin short sleeve overtop is what I'm talking about. I sometimes fold and keep in my backpack.
We carry those microfiber cloths as they are small and you can wet them in the restroom to help keep you cool.
We also carry one of the .88 ponchos from Wal Mart for the quick showers that will come. We then just throw them away or they fold so small, we stick them in our pockets for Splash or Pirates. Once they added the extra splash in the ship room, the seats always have a tiny puddle of water at the back, and I hate sitting in water 1000's of people have been sitting in all day. And, I hate walking around with a wet bottom. Everything else dries quickly. We carry full rainsuits if all day rain is expected. I hate to walk around soaking wet and ponchos don't protect in a constant rain. We also carry a clip-on water fan. We picked those up at Wal Mart also. They aren't those obnoxious big water fans the kids walk around spraying on everything around them. They are small and hook on your belt or belt loop.
I carry a small, clear plastic backpack for security check, but it serves the purpose of protecting the camera and such when it rains. I even have a little pink, clear Pokémon backpack that I use.
Some people on here are going to tell you the early hours aren't that important. I can't believe anyone that has been in peak season would say that. The Unofficial Guide has it right.
I am probably your parent's age, so I know how the heat and the walking will affect them. Make sure they carry at least two pairs of shoes and a pack of Blister (also at Wal Mart) or mole skin. Do early mornings and evenings.
My feet hurt so much less walking at those times.

I live in Florida, be prepared for a lot of heat and a shower every afternoon. The showers don't last long and usually are around 3pm. You will see the clouds coming so you will have plenty of warning. Just plan for the heat and showers and you will be fine.
