We were planning a trip right after Thanksgiving, but due to my MIL not being able to get vacation we've changed our trip to June. We used the Spring 30% off special to book the Wilderness Lodge for 7 nights :sohappy:

Any tips for going at the beginning of June? We will have 4 adults and 2 kids (8 and 4.)

We usually go during the week right before Memorial day in May and It is not as crowded as it is in June. That being said , you will miss Memorial day weekend which is very crowded. I would definitely make dining reservations now if you plan on eating at sit down restaurants, the best ones go fast. Please keep in mind that the first week in June usually includes the Gay days at the parks. We went once during this time and I did see many participants from the gay community but it did not deter from our fun at all. This btw is not an oficially sanctioned by Disney or its theme parks. Save your trip to Disney's Studios for the weekend since Star Wars weekends will still be going on. The weather will be hot and there usually is rainy days too. Have a good time and hope it is all that you expect. We will be going the week starting may 19th.

You'll be going during Star Wars weekend at Hollywood I believe. So you want to keep that in mind, HS tends to get a little more packed during the weekends that its going on. Though I recommend checking it out if that is your sort of thing, the one year we were down during it was a lot of fun...

Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort, I really think your going to enjoy it as well. Go and have a fabulous time!

See you in June!!!! Went last year, and going again this year (7-14). It is a great time, hasn't hit the scathing hot of July yet. Star Wars weekends is a blast, albeit crowded at DHS, and schools are just starting to get out for the summer break.

I had already heard about SWW and Gay Days. We plan to avoid HS on the weekends and are hoping that in the three overlapping days between Gay Days and our trip that we won't encounter too much. We'll talk to our kids in advance to prepare them :)

Our last trip was last February for the Princess Half Marathon and the crowds were reasonable and it was unseasonably warm. I'm hoping that the crowds and heat aren't too much more and hard to handle.

We were down there on our honeymoon almost 6 yrs ago now during Gay Days, we found it to be just like any other day really. We found most couples were very respectful and all so I don't think you will have any issue, but it is something to keep in mind and probably a good idea to have a discussion with your kids just to be sure. But as I said, we found it to be just business as usual.

the crowds weren't bad for me, there is certainly some extra people in the park space but it seemed the major attractions still had the type of expected crowd levels...

plus, you see a lot of fans dressed up... its a great people watching day

I have been told by family that live in Tampa that it is pretty standard down there for schools to not get out until mid June. I know people come to Disney World from everywhere but it does make the crowds lower in early June compared to the second half of the month. At least that is what I am counting on since we have booked our first summer Disney trip the first week of June. I also noticed that at Universal their fast past equivalent that you pay for is cheaper in early June than later that month. That's an indication that they think the crowds are smaller then.
