Just Booked next trip!! Cabins at Christmas

Just booked out next trip. Three years ago I had never been to Disney World and couldn't figure out what everyone freaked out about. After out first trip 2 years ago I have become officially hooked!!! Third straight year and second straight Christmas. We love it!! Staying at the cabins at fort wilderness.... Everyone I know that have stayed there love it! Anyone out there with any tips or favorite things snouty the cabins ? Can't wait!!

The whole campground at Christmas is just plain magical. People go all out to decorate, there are contests to particpate in for best decorations, so seek that out. It is fun to walk around or ride in a golf cart to look at each person's site or cabin. The Meadows trading post always has cookies available around that time, so sneak away for a snack a time or two. We have stayed twice at Christmas, loved each and every moment at FW that time of year!

Getting to the MK is so simple, just go to the marina and get on the launch. Take an internal bus to the marina, walk or take your golf cart. Walking to the marina is long from the cabins, maybe about ten minutes? Not so bad going to MK but coming home after a long day the walk seems daunting. Plan ahead. Try to get to one camp fire and watch a movie. Roast marshmellows, make s'mores, drink hot chocolate and don't worry about your dishes, the mousekeepers clean up after you in the kitchen. FW is the best!

Tell me more about the golf carts please. My concern about staying there is getting around - but if I could get a golf cart to drive from cabin to transportation site?? That would be interesting and may make me want to switch resorts. Any info greatly appreciated.
The carts are a bit pricey and you can rent one form the bike barn. Reserve early, like when you make your reservation, they go fast! I would never stay at FW without one, it is fun to drive around and if you are in a cabin you are staying pretty far from the marina, so unless you want to take an internal bus each time to that area or walk then a golf cart comes in handy. Last time I checked they were about 60 a day.
