So I was at WDW from May 13th to the 20th. I went with family and took my girlfriend who hadn't been there since about 2000. She only had memories that Disney wasn't "cool" and wasn't extremely excited like I was. She also had not ridden alot during her last visit and had only ridden a few thrill rides, so it was like her first visit all over again.
The weather was great and the wait times even greater! I was blessed with a free dining service plan for each of us during our stay and we saved ALOT of money.. and also ate a lot of food. Just a few comments/questions from my trip:
After many times riding Test Track, I had never realized the male character in the pre-show room has been in several movies. He usually plays a goofy character - he looked young in TT and I had never recgonized him before. Anyone know his name?
While riding The Great Movie Ride we had a group of High School aged students who were constantly talking throughout - 2 rows of idiots commenting on everything, it was really disruptive. During the scene where "Mugsy" goes to get the jewel he made a comment about going for the jewel. One of the guys in the back made a loud comment like, "Yeah, go get it." I then heard "Mugsy" say (just loud enough for us to hear), "Yeah.. tool." It was pretty funny as I'm sure not too many others heard the comment.
During my stay I encountered alot of great CMs who really enjoyed their jobs. Bus drivers who would sing and give great park info and ride CMs who really played their part and made the ride enjoyable. The trip started off on a fun note when we were walking to check into the Magical Express. An older male CM said hello and then did a Donald Duck impression. We were already in great moods and this just added to it.
I could tell some of those smiles were stressed when it got to the 1, 2am EMHs, but everyone was still pleasant. I know I couldn't do their job. We only had one crappy CM who was a female at Test Treck.
It was EMH and she was talking to male CM as we walked up. She said, "So you know that girl?" She ignored the fact that we had walked up and continued to talk, so we continued on through towards the building. Then she yelled, "You can't go in! I need to see your room keys!" It was pretty embarassing with the tone she used; people were looking at us like we were some sort of idiots. It kind of rubbed me the wrong way.. she's the one talking and doesn't tell us to stop and then calls us out. I don't expect CMs to be "perfect" all the time, I could care less she was having a personal conversation, but it was wrong of her to respond like that when it was her fault and responsibility to stop us. I hadn't been at WDW since they went to showing room keys and was thinking we would get wristbands.
We were at Downtown Disney and had just left Planet Hollywood, this was around 11 or 12pm. Thank god they have the posts running along the sidewalk. As we were walking along the sidewalk (that borders the parking lot and bus area) a Disney bus ran into these posts and ripped a few pieces off the side. It was super loud and startled me because for a second I thought we were going to get hit. Some of the turn signal lets were laying in the street and the bus kept going - I'm not 100% sure how the driver wouldn't have realized this. If those posts wouldn't have been there, it would have been us getting hit!
Overall I had a great trip and can't wait to go back when some of the new areas are finished!
