Hello all,
Just back from 8 glorious nights at the Polynesian. If any one has questions I'll be happy to try and answer. The resort was great, we loved the atomsphere and the convienience. I'll post details later for now I need to rest!

o.k......I'll ask. How was the Poly? We'll be staying there from April 26th to May 3rd. This will be my first time there, but my wife stayed there in the 70's/80's. We'll be there with two kids (aged 2 &6). I've stayed elsewhere on the property (Wilderness, Dixie Landings, Allstar Sports & Music), and we decided to splurge this time out as we're driving down and are saving $$ on not needing airline tickets. Any ideas about Poly would be appreciated....i.e. restaurants, activities, etc.

Bunnyman,
Well first of all I think you've made a wise choice. The Polynesian is an excellent place for young children. Mine are 12 and 9 but I took them to the parks when they were younger and know how exhausting it can be. The location of the Polynesian makes it so easy to return mid day for swim and naps. The boat launch back from MK is very relaxing and never crowded. The pool is great, has a gradual walk in like a beach and I saw lots of little ones there. I would recommend the character breakfast at Ohana's while you are there, lots of character interaction, good food and Chip and Dale are very funny! Dinner at Ohana's is lots of fun for the kids to with coconut races and a hula contest. WE also loved the Kona Cafe, the food was excellent and they have a great dessert bar.
Other activities to check out, the mouse boats, the Neverland Club so you the adults get a night out, (we had a great dinner at the CA grill) and watching the firewoorks and electrical water pagent from the beach or the dock. You will have a great time!

Tikiman,
The Polynesian exceeded all our expectations and from what we had read here and elswhere they were high to begin with. We stayed in 1208 in Aotearoa which was great. We were close to pool and marina and had a monorail view which we loved and were also close to the GCH. It's just so beautiful and lush that it's very relaxing. Everyone that works there is so nice! I'm afraid we've been spoiled for anything else. Because we went at Spring Break it was especially great to have our retreat from the madnesss at the parks and to have such easy transportaitoion options.
Thank you for your great website, it was so helpful when I was planning the trip, now I will be able to use it to get my Polynesian fix to hold me over till or next trip! Mahalo!

Mahalo Grumpy56,

Aotearoa can be a great location. Some don'tlike the view of the monorail but I think it is one of the best things to be able to look out and see. It looks like you were right in the middle of Aotearoa. How did you like the ground level patio? Was there much noise from the Luau at night? I have stayed in Tuvalu and I could hear the drums but they never were so loud it bothered me. Maybe next time you will get the other side of Aotearoa and get a lagoon view for a garden view price. I still think it would be great to watch the monorail go by from the room.

Thanks again for the report.

I stayed at the Polynesian a few years ago... It's a wonderful place to stay. They just got a new pool, which is absolutly gorgeous. And the beaches and walkways provide excellent relaxation areas at night. Very peaceful. And it's a lot of fun for kids.

Transportation is good from the Poly. The monorail is right there, to take you to the MK. There's also a nice boat that will take you there. As for Epcot, I'd recommend walking to the TTC... it's a 5 min walk... right next door. Busses service DAK, Studios, and DTD, and run quite often. (Make sure you ask to ride in the front cab of the Polynesian's train)

One thing I do recommend... at the Kona Cafe (and maybe Ohanas), they have something called Tonga Toast... OMG... it's so good... it's like french toast... but stuffed with fruit... yummy. :)

Enjoy your stay!

Tikiman,
We never heard the drums from the room, only when walking around outside and we kind of liked that. It's not that late anyway. We liked the ground floor patio, we had baby ducks out there with their Mom several mornings. We liked the monorail view and even with the park open to midnight we were never disturbed by the noise. It was very exciting to see the monorail every morning, it help us get up and GO!
