just a thought

Following last night when kennywood had a near race riot of over 100 people on opening day with 4 injuries, it seems almost inevitable that something like this could occur in a disney park. This seems to be the year of riots of fighting with intense violence. any thoughts?

Nope.

Manchester had a huge riot in 2011. Didn't spread to Alton Towers.
Understandable, and while kennywood is obviously no where near the scale of disney, i never thought something like this would happen to kennywood, and i just have a bad feeling as to what may happen in disney if correct measures aren't taken.

Agreed. Your average rioter doesn't usually travel and pay to enter somewhere to then riot unless perhaps it's to attend a football match where they expect others will join in. Can't imagine them all on the monorail passing through the Contemporary gesticulating at those in Chef Mickeys whilst chanting "You're gonna get your ####### heads kicked in", can you

Am I right in that Kennywood is in a suburban area and easily reachable on foot or by a quick car hop?

I just looked up the Kennywood thing and agree that "near race riot" appears to be extremely misleading. Multiple sources are describing it as a bunch of disruptive teenagers and there were only a handful of injuries, all very minor scrapes and such. Sounds like just a bunch of badly behaved, unsupervised teens getting out of hand on opening day at the amusement park.

WDW has a completely different feel than a Kennywood or Six Flags or similar day-trip parks. A lot of people are at Disney on a vacation with family, it's very expensive to get in and it's isolated from the surrounding area. A big riot requires a lot of people to be angry about the same thing at the same time, and also to have the energy to express themselves violently. Most people who are angry at WDW are just hot, tired and in need of a cold drink and a chair.

I was at a venue that was showing the fight last night and a very large fight broke out between two large groups. It was around 75 people just straight up brawling. It was madness. About 15 police officers managed to shut it down. They were outside already doing security. They ran in, took a few guys down and the rest of the herd seemed to settle down. Im sure at a place like WDW there are dozens of security and police within any given 100 yard area. A few well placed tazer shots would likely put a hault to any major flare up in the parks. Im sure the tazer could be explained to any child as a magical device!

Only way I could imagine a large fight happening at WDW would be if a few tour groups went head to head. Do they have any fighting chants?

Doubt it would ever happen. I've been to events when there were massive walls of guests and Disney handled the crowds exceptionally well. A sporting event with high adrenaline tempered fueled fans doesnt come close to comparing with any Disney held venue.

I just can't see this type of thing happening at WDW. There is such a diverse population of folks who visit WDW. Although I have seen fights started in line on you tube videos, but a race riot of some sort, doubtful. But, at this point anything is possible anywhere you go. You must keep your eyes and ears wide open, and try to stay away from any potential trouble, if that's at all possible.:(

You not going to join our little riot Betty? We're equal opportunity rioters, my wife has declined so we need a female.
