Just a random Poly question

One day Id like to splurge and stay at the Poly. We are not "resort day" type people, we are at the parks all day and just typically use a value resort for a place to stay. But sometimes its nice to just "spoil yourself" so Ive looked for our next trip in sept 2015 (SO FAR AWAY) and right now the Poly is at about $500/night. I could NEVER bring myself to paying that much for a hotel room. So my question is, whats the cheapest rate youve seen the Poly go for? Im hoping when next years discounts come out it might be a little more reasonable.

I would expect to see it get higher if anything. Once the construction is over, and the DVC units take up space that was previously non-DVC, Disney can probably get away with a higher price.

There have been 30% off offers at various points over the past few years. I once got a 40% off PIN but that was 4 years ago. It was the best offer I had ever received or seen.

The cheapest price we've ever paid for Poly in the past several years (this was about two or three years ago) was just under $300 a night in late October. We also paid slightly over $300 in August. That's the lowest we've ever seen and if I ever see that price again, construction or not, I'd do it. The convenience of being able to walk to the TTC to ride the Epcot monorail and the MK monorail is really great and no other resort offers that. Being one of the oldest resorts on property, the rooms at Poly (as with Contemporary) are slightly larger than the newer deluxe resorts (AKL or Boardwalk).

Although it's not available now, we used to love watching MK fireworks from the beach at Poly. I'm really hoping they manage to preserve that somehow, but we'll see.

$279 + tax a night in a standard room in June of this year. Was an AP discount And the lobby was just walled off (pool was still open)

37% off Deluxe rooms in January, but that was an AP rate.

I just punched in random September dates. I looked on your profile to find the dates for your trip, and when I checked your dates, I saw that the Poly rates were not up yet. The week before is running $430 plus tax, which isn't bad. So once the rates come out for that week, if they happen to be higher, you might want to look at modifying your travel dates.

If you really want to stay at a Deluxe, I think you would also like BC (which is running $330 a night). I also noticed Contemporary is under $400 a night for when you are going. I don't know exactly what you hoped to pay, but I would grab something now and watch the rates. If you see a good one, jump on it.

Hope this helps. :)

I think my comfort zone would be $300-$350. I noticed AKL and WL are at the $285 range. I might not be able to resist.

I stayed there one night before the waterfall was removed (I've been going to WDW for years and never could push myself to spend the money for Poly, but wanted to stay there once before the renovations started) it was AMAZING! I paid in the low $300 range but it was an AP discount in May. Some things got hectic before I could get away so I didn't arrive when I wanted to (4ish) I got there at 8pm and walked up to check-in and I was told that they had over booked for the weekend and the room level I booked (as basic as basic can be - view of a bus tailpipe or something for the cheapest rate I could get) wasn't available, so I got bumped to a 2 bedroom concierge suite, and was that ok? After I regained consciousness, I said, it'll do, and I was escorted to room #1, the Ambassador Suite with private, fenced courtyards for each bedroom as well as the great room. Even if I had not been in the suite, strolling the beach, after I calmed down, and seeing the movie playing on the inflatable screen, the fireworks going off in the Magic Kingdom, and the luau music and cheers in the distance, it was the most magical experience I've ever had at a WDW resort!! I can't speak highly enough about the themeing and how well it transports you to a completely different place and feeling! The staff was by far the best I've ever encountered at a WDW resort, and I've stayed at almost all of them multiple times. So while yes its definitely a "splurge" stay and not an every trip resort, its WELL worth it!! The next night I was there, I hooked up with my friends staying at Bay Lake Tower and spent the night with them (so only paying for 1 night of my weekend also helped me in swallowing the costs) and it was "ehh," which has always been my reaction to that resort, its nice, but it doesn't make my socks roll up and down.

That's so awesome. A little extra pixie dust :)

We stayed there last year. There was already some construction going on so we were upgraded to a beachfront room for no additional cost since our room faced a construction site and was noisy. We have stayed value and mod and liked both, but the Poly has that WOW factor!. We also love eating at 'Ohana and it was very convenient to go for breakfast before heading out and late dinners coming "home." For us it was a once in a lifetime, but worth the splurge. Loved the monorail, water Electrical Parade (I forget the official name.) Room only discount for fall deluxe are typically 30% but you have to pick that or "free" dining. We found that the dining came out cheaper than the RO disc for our stay, but still looked at it as if our room was cheaper than the $500/ night we paid. If you want the cheapest garden view rooms for like $450 I would advise booking early as they get snatched up VERY quickly. Good luck- I hope you have a spectacular vacation!
