Just a hello

Just wanted to introduce myself and say HI. I'm so glad I found this forum. Everyone seems really nice here and there's not a lot of arguing like I've found on the newsgroups.

I have been visiting WDW ever since I was 8 years old (that's about 25 years ago) I had my honeymoon at WDW and while the marriage didn't work out, I don't let that spoil my great memories and love for Disney.

My now 7 year old son was the greatest thing to come from my marriage and now he and I will experience the happiest place on earth together.

We're going to WDW, just the two of us, from March 23-30
(less than a month, YEAH!)

Believe it or not, in the dozens of times that I have been, I have NEVER stayed on-property. I've always rented a home nearby. But this time would be special, so I decided to stay on-site. I couldn't afford where I wanted to stay (AK lodge) but I knew I wanted something a little nicer than All Stars. So I booked at
Coronado Springs. Have I made a good choice? I hope so.
The Pool and Playground there look amazing.

I'm really looking forward to seeing "the world" through the eyes of my son. Something tells me that as much as I've seen it, things will look different to me this time around.

Thanks all,

Dan

Coronado Springs is amazing. A little out of the way, but def a good choice!! If you have a chance visit the pools at Port Orleans, they are lots of fun for youngsters! Have a great time and don't forget the check out the Great Movie Ride at MGM!!

I think the pool at Coronado Springs is more fun for the youngsters. I think it's an awesome resort- but all the moderates are awesome! Just a tip-- If you rent a car, use it rather than taking the bus to Downtown Disney. Everytime I've stayed at Coronado Springs we've waited at least an hour for a bus to get us for Downtown Disney! Still- it's a great resort.

Welcome.

Your trip should be great. Staying at Disney is a whole new not to be missed experince. Your son will love it. The pool and play area for kids at CS is great. The hot tub is too (one of the biggest at WDW!) Did you ask what convention is going on at CS the week you booked? That can sometimes effect your stay, depending on your view. Sometimes being prepared to share with a busines convetion or a group of cheerleaders helps. The buses are often less crowded at CS because of people staying there going to the convention, but if you are going the week of easter, it could all be vactioners.

7 years old is a great time to take your son. He will love everything and if he isn't scared may be tall enough to ride it all too. Take advantage of going back to the room and hitting the pool in the afternoon.

Have a great time!!!!

The biggest benefit of staying on property is being able to return to your resort in the afternoon when the parks get a little busy.

Be sure to follow DisneyPhD's advice. Go back to your resort for lunch and then you can chill out in the pool, or take a nap, or just relax on your balcony. Take about three hours to relax, then head back to the parks to finish the day with ice cream and fireworks.

I also hope that you have a great trip.

Welcome! There's nothing better than visiting WDW with your children...although visiting it with your SO, parents, or even alone aren't bad, either! ;) Have fun here on the forums...but please don't take us too seriously! ;)

Hey Disney Dan, You should try Mousesavers.com and get an even better rate on your room at CS. It's a moderate resort and you can get it for like $94 a night if you use the codes on this site.Trust me there legitimate (and free) I have used them before when I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. Hope I helped!

Hi and welcome Dan!
Just visited the World for the 19th time last month. I also took my honeymoon there in 2000. There is nothing like staying on Disney property, even though it costs more it's worth it. We just found out last week that my wife is expecting. We don't have any children yet, so I can't wait to take our child to Disney in 3 or 4 years.

Disney Dan,
Welcome aboard!
You are going to have a great time visiting WDW with your son. I remember the first time we carried our 4 year old, we had watched the evening parade and were watching the fireworks from the hub in front of the castle. I was holding him so he could get a better view and he turned to me and said, "Oh Daddy, I wish I couold live here forever!" Talk about a Disney moment.
He just celebrated his 9th birthday on Friday, and even though we have gone since then, and are going back in October, THAT momemt was one I will never forget.
Enjoy Disney and don't forget to be a kid again, yourself!

Congrats!!!!!!!! Hope your wifes pregnancay goes well. My husband and I joke that we had a baby just so we could have a kid to take to WDW with us!

Are you really going to wait until you child is 3 or 4 years old? I know that kids can't really remember the trip or "fully enjoy it" but it is great to see babies recations and really easy to do with one. We took our baby back in Dec when she was almost 9 months old. It was a great trip and I will always treasure the memories. She had a great time, and I know it will all be new again next time she goes. BTW, kids under 3 are free, you can fly free for under 2 I think.

Before having our daughter we always thought we would wait until they were older to do our first WDW trip with her. But we just couldn't wait!!!!!

Thanks Disney PhD! I hope everything goes well too. I say 3 or 4 yrs old now, but I know darn well that we well end up taking the baby at 2. We'll just have to get some of the grandparents to go with us.
