I heard that Disney is going to change the Jungle Cruse in 2005 to make it more "action themed". Any one have any more info or comments.

I hope they don't totally redo it. I don't know that they would though considering the popularity of this attration. It's a fastpass ride and the lines are usually really long. I don't see why they would change a ride that is that popular, but you never know.

I could see updating the animatronics and things like that. I just hope that if this is true, they don't change it too much. It would lose some of it's charm if they completely changed it.

Agreed. Jungle Cruise is too much of a Walt attraction. The only thing they could do is throw in a couple of Tarzan references, like making the gorillas at the camp scene resemble the ones from "Trashin' the Camp", with Terk and such, but I really don't see it happening...

I've often wondered if the reason the Jungle Cruise has'nt been significantly updated is that the animatronics are outdoors and/or in the water. It might be simply too expensive to get fancier, given their operating environment, even for Disney. Of course, if anybody can figure how to do it, it'll be the Imagineers! Any thoughts?

I could see a couple little things, but nothing major. Its one of the classics and one of the most popular. Also I really like it!!

ok...

this is it. I HAVE HAD IT!

This is the reason that imagineers have been spotted in and around JC for the past several months.

THE ATTRACTION IS IN SUCH BAD MECHANICAL CONDITION, THAT IMAGINEERING HAS TO ESTABLISH WHAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED IN ITS NEXT REHAB. Don't expect it to be a new ride after the rehab, but expect it to be in tip-top shape afterwards.

There, see? Don't you feel a lot better now that it's all out in the open, Tig? :p

They are trapped between the sword and the wall. If they leave it like this, people will slowly become bored with this old ride, which has it's moment of popularity, and it lasted many many years. But, if they make a super-dooper major rehab. to the ride with spectacular animatronics and more, people will find it too similar to an Animal Kingdom ride. And why would I go to an similar AK ride, when there's the real thing next door.
As I said, it's a hard one to choose.

Here's MY thoughts on this subject:

I think Jungle cruise will be gone shortly.

I quit going on JC when Animal Kingdom opened.
Why would I want to wait in line to see PLASTIC Elephants when I can see REAL ones at AK?

I was at Disney World from April 27th thru May 5th. I was at the Magic Kingdom 3 times, and at no time was there long lines on the Jungle Cruise ride.

Much like C.O.P. , Jungle Cruise used to be one of my favorites, but the sad reality is this. If people don't ride it...Disney gets RID of it.

I hope I'm wrong.

I Agree!

I also believe that after a few more years, Disney will realize that people would much rather see the real thing. It really needs a big update, in my opinion, if they want it to remain a popular attraction in the future. I also don't really care for the ride. One (Disneyland) is enough.:)

You can't beat Jungle Cruise! I hope with all the new rides and activities throughout the parks that a few of the "Classics" remain that same!:(

On the topic of Jungle Cruise being like AK...who the heck has ever gone on JC for the ANIMALS!!??? It is a jungle-themed comedy sketch from top to bottom. It doesn't tell you anything about animals (except maybe IDing african elephants by the shape of their ears). It doesn't try to show you their natural habitats or behaviors....

From the funny signs in the queue to the snappy witicisms of the skippers to the guys trapped on the pole by the rhino, the attraction is a spoof of safaris, totally tongue-in-cheek. To say that people would pass it up in leu of AK is like passing up Test Track because you can drive a car 65 mile an hour any day of the week!

Not saying that your theories are not plausible (they are)...but hasn't the real attraction over the years become the corny jokes of the boat skippers? No one really gets excited by the animatronic animals, no matter how well done.

I don't care what they do to JC, if anything, as long as they dont move it to Animal Kingdom or get rid of it. It's the same kind of reason COP needs to stay at MK. If they move these to different parks, the Magic Kingdom would lose a lot of classic magic and feel.
