The amount of people who complain and yell about prices, why something isn't carried, policies.... to the minimum wage employee is absolutely mind numbing.

"Guests visiting Magic Kingdom Park may soon notice the latest updates coming to the Jungle Cruise as they come around that final bend. Trader Sam is charting a new adventure along the river at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom Parks. Ever wonder what happened to that gramophone you accidentally left behind on the boat during your last adventure? How about that beloved pith helmet that went missing?
Word on the stream is that Alberta Falls, proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company Ltd., has entrusted her longtime friend, Trader Sam, to manage the new Lost & Found location. But, with Trader Sam being Trader Sam, there’s always an opportunity to make some extra money. After all, all the best rides end with a gift shop, right?
Take a look at this rendering of their newest venture together. Clearly, Sam is betting on an established reputation as the best merchant in the jungle! But, while he’s out lost and finding some new inventory, it’s the animals that get the last laugh!
The new scene is one of several that are interconnected and build on the original story and humor of the Jungle Cruise. As previously shared, our world-famous skippers will continue to present the unique adventure and interactions guests expect.
Once complete, guests will learn more about the events that led up to this final scene. Stay tuned, as enhancements debut later this year!"

This is what I was hoping they would do and had mentioned weeks ago—further develop the lore surrounding Sam but remove the problematic image of him, leaving his appearance to our imagination. I think this respects the fans while avoiding offensive depictions. Since the new scenes are "interconnected," it's likely there's a story element of why there are simians everywhere.

I love this. Sam always felt somewhat ambiguous and comedically omnipresent and I love how his spirit remains. And that shop is going to look KILLER at night.

Since Trader Sam is gone due to him being “offensive”, I assume the dancing natives are the next victims and will have a date with the chopping block at some point as these changes take place?
I needed service at the Jungle Cruise lost and found and couldn't find anyone to help me. And Sam did nothing!!

We have been transported to Monkey Jungle Cruise where the people are in cages and the monkeys roam free. They now rule the jungle

Funny idea, I just wish Sam was actually there at the shop trying to sell us obviously used goods. Looks like he’s referenced in name only.

Frankly they should have been removed first. I understand why they didn't though: make the ride as a whole more interesting by adding in the monkey throughline then cut the really troublesome stuff.

I think this does a great job of keeping "Trader Sam" around, while removing the offensive elements. I'll admit, I was resistant to all of these changes at first - but I've come around and Im on board with them at this point. Cant wait to see it all on my next trip...

Excellent imagination! Keeping Trader Sam in the ride without being physically in you face plus providing a ride photopass opportunity and utilizing primate AA's. Like it!

Honest question, if they removed the (heads) feature from the statue of TS, would his image still be offensive? Not that I have a problem with his removal, wasn't a key element of the ride IMO, but if he was trading say, sun tan lotion and bug spray, would that have fixed the entire racist connotation or am I missing something else? Again, honest question, I'm not too familiar with his role or lore in the ride.
