Jungle Cruise question

It was a very different script back when I was there (1993). Now almost every other phrase is a joke/pun of some sort. Back then there was a little more 'meat' to the jokes - which IMHO made the punchlines more effective.

I have not heard anything about an 'adult version' - no one mentioned back then (I was on College Program in summer). We did have a number of "options" to use when the boats backed up at unload...I don't seem to hear those as much now.

I think I honestly remember when the spiel was more on the serious side for the entire ride, like they would say a warning of sorts before going through that specific scene. Didn't the jokes begin just a few short years ago?
The jokes have been going on for a long time... but I do remember as a kid that they were either more serious or some of the jokes just went over my head. I do recall when I was little I thought Disney had created flying bugs because the guy on the jungle boat pointed out a dragon fly and commented on how expensive they were for Disney to create.... Was around the same time a tour bus guide in Washington DC told everyone that the statue of Abraham Lincoln would stand up on his birthday and being a little kid I didn't realize it was a joke.
