Jungle Cruise/HM/Pirates Email Survey

One of the early questions asked if we rode about 8 different rides, including HM. I didn't check that one, which probably directed us to different follow up questions. Did you find the length and depth of the survey surprisingly long and detailed?
I replied that I rode all, except the holiday version because I have never been there for the holidays. I got scared when I had to answer a million question about Pirates bc I thought I was going to have to do the same for the others but mine was only about pirates.

I got the same email. But since the last time I went to the parks, I only went to DAK and Epcot. (Limited days at a conference) I didn't click any of the rides... they were all MK/DLR rides. So I was kicked out of the survey. That's what I get for being honest up front.

Let me start by saying I apologize if this is already being discussed somewhere... But I received an email survey that I found to be pretty interesting.

The email came from "Disney Consumer Research" and started by asking the basics, but then got into specifics and asked if I've ever ridden any of the following attractions, proceeding to list Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Matterhorn and maybe a couple of others. I then spent the next 10 minutes or so answering a VARIETY of questions related to the Jungle Cruise. Questions about the attraction itself, the animatronics, the story, theme, aesthetics, merchandise, etc. Some of the questions even directly asked "Would you like to see _____ changed/upgraded?" or "How much would you want to see/purchase ______?"

Now maybe I'm misreading this, but the survey leads me to believe that something is in the works for this attraction.. I know a movie is being developed, and they even went as far as letting Dwayne Johnson go into the vault and learn all there is/was to know about the ride, but could something else be in the works too?

And did anyone else receive this survey and get the same feeling?
Yes there is another thread on this

Guest surveys are rarely, if ever, an indication of "imminent" change. Future change maybe. But these things take time.

If there is a Jungle Cruise movie coming out then I would expect them to change the ride to some degree as they did in Pirates... But the last I saw on the production of the movie was that it would not start filming until Spring 2018... No release date given... but expect it likely in Summer 2019... Maybe as early as Christmas 2018, but that's unlikely... Maybe give them 6 months to drop in some new Dwayne Johnson bits and pieces to it so I would expect them to do it to Disneyland during the winter refurb 2018... Probably wont do anything to the WDW version until they know the movie is a hit... If I remember correctly when they did the Depp add-ons to Pirates ride they did DL first and WDW was later.

got an email survey today asking a lot of questions about the Jungle Cruise. There were well over 100 questions asking about the value of each individual element of the ride, and then asking about whether I wanted to see a TV show or movie or stage show about it, and finally dozens of questions about whether I would buy specific types of merchandise, from frozen food to footwear to salty snacks or home furnishings. Could not believe the level of detail. At first the questions seemed to be about whether they should gut the ride, but then it clearly veered into how they could further monetize it.
The only thing that really worries me is that they'll stick Future President Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson all over the ride like Capt. Jack Sparrow.

They seem to be sending out a LOT of emails as of late, in particular if they know you have been recently. We have APs and Ive probably done 10 or so surveys in the past couple of months after having a trip in late March and another just a couple of weekends ago, with another starting this coming weekend. The surveys have been varied: Figment and overall impressions of Epcot, Rivers of light, Dining options, Disney Springs, Pandora, and an extensive one about MK including Tomorrowland , adventureland, and other land specific questions. Prior to these I would get one every month or two but, lately it has been almost weekly there is a new one. Not sure if they are truly trying to get an opinion or concensus from guests to determine directions or if it is just general info.

This makes sense, since Dwayne Johnson is filming a Jungle Cruise movie and reimagining the ride. They keep trying to match the success of PoTC movies, but keep failing (HM, TomorrowLand).
Mostly because unlike POTC, They are TOO faithful to the source material.

Yep, that's my fear too. But some will say "IT'S THE ROCK SO IT'S OK" and that it will be cool to see him in there. If you truly re-imagine the ride, I could be ok including him if it's done right. But I love the ride as it is.

How soon before they cut the skippers spiel and have THE ROCK narrating? Sigh

This is a small part of a newly considered strategy, treating park attractions as IPs. You can already get Frozen Gummies, why not HM? Whether it will be fully implemented remains to be seen.
It would be nice if Disney started to realize that creating something out of whole cloth has value to guests and they shouldn't dismiss it outright as park expansion.

Yes! Some of the options presented later in the survey were very odd...and specific.

I can't remember where I saw it. However, I saw that Disney denied that the Jungle Cruise would be re-imagined.
