I believe its a new firing location, I have not heard of this locatiom being used on previous shows. If so, good job Disney expanding the July 4 show!General Grizz said:

Yeah, I thought that sounded new... New or wrong. Either way, I think it would be cool if they had forwrorks gooing on all over the park. That would be nice.
I've never seen Epcot's old Fourth of July show. Fireworks behind the WS pavilions sounds awesome.

They have being using this site in the Lagoon for the 4th of July and the 31st of Dec for those respected firework shows for the last few years, if not longer. I will do some research and find out when they started using it for you all.

The firing site in the Seven Seas Lagoon is actually the orginal 1971 firing site. Fireworks from behind the castle didn't start until a few years after the park opened. Tinkerbells first flight wasn't until 1982! The island site was used extensivly during the bicentenial celebration in 1976. It was the main launch location for a patriotic show that took place on the Lagoon each night. After that it was only used for Special Events, NYE and 4th's as you stated. It will be used again at the end of September for the American Pyrotechnics Assn. convention show. They will be showcasing companies products from all around the world. The APA did the fireworks there for Rockn Rockets a few years back. They were holding there 50th anniversary fireworks show and Disney added the music part and made some moolah off of it.
