Trip Report June 23-27 Yacht Club

This is really a post mortem of our trip this past week. It was our first trip since 2009 so I knew a lot of things have changed.
First off, Yacht Club is a beautiful resort. I will stay there again for our next trip (tentatively 2017). Everything was exceptional from the moment we arrived.
Our party was myself, DW, DD (16), DS (10), DD (2.5) and DS (15 mo). We were just missing our DD (also 16) who was at summer camp.
We arrived at 11am and our room was ready. This was an unexpected surprise but a welcome one since we had been on the road since 12:30am from Greensboro, NC. We hit Downtown Disney and then Stormalong Bay (best pool ever). Dinner was at Chef Mickey's!

We sat down and they took our drink order and we went in shifts to get our food. Although the food was good, I felt that the selection was lacking. The main dishes were ok, but there was only a few side dishes. I just remembered a larger selection is all.
When Minnie cam to our table, our 2 yo daughter's heart melted. She loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and knows all the characters by name. When Minnie came, she waved and said "Hi Minnie!" When Minnie left, she waved and said "bye Minnie!" She did this this for all 5. When we got the bill, the DW got the bill and had a minor heart attack. I knew what the bill was going to be though. She wanted to know why we paid this much for a small buffet. All I did was point to Mickey and said that we paid for 5 personal appearances by the Fab 5. Besides, you can't put a price on our 2 youngest kids faces. It was well worth what we paid, and then some.
The other downer (besides the lack of food selection) was the fact that they lost the picture they took of us in the beginning. They offered to take it again and comp it for us (really nice!). We declined due to the fact that the 2 toddlers were done and got food all over themselves and us.
Next, day 1 at Magic Kingdom!

We brought our own stroller. We have one of those high end bike/jogger strollers. Only problem is the stroller does not "break down." The bus driver layed into me saying how big it was. He said it was larger than his scooter! I apologized for the size of the stroller. I learned from this first bus driver interaction to ASK the bus driver where they would like me to put my stroller. Never heard another word about it. As a side note, you can literally push, pull and steer our stroller with one finger (thank you REI!).
We arrived just in time for the Welcome show and rope drop and quickly veered left towards Liberty Square, Adventureland and Frontierland. These were the only areas we went to on this day. Had our fp+ for HM, Splash and Jungle Cruise. Let's talk about FP+.
I had all of FP+ prior to noon. The only issue was the we walked on to HM and Splash. No need to use FP. We did use the JC one tho. So I changed the times to later that evening. So seeing that FP+ isn't really necessary for early morning, I changed the rest to the evenings on my other days. We left around 1pm to head back to YC for the toddlers to nap and for all of us to go to the pool.
We loved Stormalong Bay. Best pool ever!
Went back to the MK around 6pm and left to go back at 9pm. The older kids stayed. DW helped me get the toddlers situated in our room and she headed back to MK to hang with the older kids til 1am. So I had the privilege of getting the toddlers to sleep. And sleep we did!
Next morning...Epcot!

Epcot.
We arrived at Epcot around 9am. Nice 5 minute walk from YC. We headed for Living Seas. The kids liked the Nemo dark ride and we skipped Turtle Talk because there were only a handful of people at Living Seas. So we made off for the Land. I took the Little Ones with me on Living with the Land while DW and DS went on Soarin'. I didn't mind not riding it. We also saw the Circle of Life before lunch. After lunch we headed back to YC for some pool time and naps. We left to o back around 5pm. We headed straight for Mission Space. DS and I rode orange twice since there wasn't much of a wait...we actually walked on the 1st time then Brasil showed up for the 2nd...only about a 10 minute wait so we waited. The older kids rode Test Track before we headed to World Showcase...had that FP+ for Maelstrom!
For dinner, everyone ate wherever they wanted...I went to Morocco and had the lamb shwarma platter...WOW! It was sooooo good. The Little Ones even ate it...who knew they liked lamb and couscous! The others ate in Mexico.
So we ended up riding Maelstrom and wandered through about half of the countries...I briefly watched Mo' Rockin...love that belly dancer!
We also rode the Three Caballeros ride in Mexico. My DD2 loved seeing Donald everywhere. After spending time in Mexico we left for the night. Tomorrow, Magic Kingdom Round 2.

Great report and pictures. Sorry to hear the food selection wasn't that good and Chef Mickey's, that is on the ADRs for our upcoming trip. Sounds like the family is having a wonderful time at the World. I have never been to the Stormalong Bay pool but have heard so many good things about it, would love to try it some day. Will be watching for more report.

Thanks. The food that they did have was good, just not a lot of variety. I am glad it was quality over quantity. I liked the ribs the best :-)

Magic Kingdom: Round 2.
This was our 2nd day at Magic and our last day at the World. This was a very short trip. Mainly because our 2nd oldest daughter was in summer camp in NC. By this time our DS and DD were pretty much working our last nerve. So something had to change and change it did. We told the 2 older kids that mommy, the babies and I were going to MK. But you 2 CANNOT go to MK, pick another park. To my happiness, they gladly bolted for Epcot. We gave them money for lunch and agreed to meet back at the resort at 5pm for dinner. This was the best day EVER at MK. We love our kids, but sometimes you just have to let them roam free. Before leaving, we did have the Mickey's Mini Kitchen Sink. Sounded kinda high @ $14.99 for 2 scoops and the toppings. It did feed all 4 of us. It would have cost us about the same for 3 scoops. Bonus was the plastic Mickey Pants Sink.

We started off in Fantasyland riding Mickey's Philharmagic. We also rode Small World, Tea Cups, etc... The babies loved riding all those small rides. We even did COP and Monsters, Inc. We then headed back to the resort. Beforehand, I did have to have a Dole Whip.

We got back to MK around 6:30. We did Haunted Mansion then headed for Magic Carpets of Agrabagh. We just walked around Frontierland and Adventureland. We had more Dole Whips. Watched Wishes and then headed back to the resort. Had another Dole Whip on the way out. On this trip I only had about 5 Dole Whips...

We packed up and left Friday morning for the long drive back to NC.

The only sad thing is we will not be back for about 3-4 years. Our big trip next summer is Seattle to visit some of my family. 2016 is the tentative date for my return to my homeland...Hawaii. So WDW is 2017 or 2018. Good news is it will just be the DW and the babies (who will be 5 and 4 in 2017). No other siblings will be in attendance. The other DS will be in a summer camp for sure. The 2 oldest girls will be in college so they will have to work (hopefully).

It sounds like you guys had the best time in a short amount of time. Your little babies are super cute, and your big "babies" (they will always be our babies won't they?) look like they were happy to be there, and I'm sure they were even more thrilled to be given their independence for a day. The needs of a little one do tend to take over a schedule, so I can imagine they were itching to just go and DO stuff. Good parenting decision on your part in recognizing the different needs of each pair and giving them that teeny bit of independence - it helps that they were old enough to do that together too!

Did your DD2 get to meet the princesses? I still remember when my DD did that for the first time (she was 2 as well). It was pure awe, and lots of sloppy hugs and kisses!

Thanks. Yeah, the older 2 really enjoyed spending the day alone at Epcot was nice. They did however have a discussion on Epcot or DHS...I just said you two figure it out.
My two oldest met the Poppins, Aurora, Belle and Snow White. Our babies have no idea who the princesses are with exception of Anna and Elsa (not even gonna think about waiting for that M & G). But when they get slightly older, they will be introduced to the princesses.

The next time we go, we plan on staying a Saturday to Saturday length. This will definitely give us more time to do things. We never do the parks commando style. We always take a mid day break for pool time and just plain old relaxation. Then we head back to parks around 5:30/6pm.
We definitely plan on staying at Yacht club again. But that won't be til 2017 at the earliest.
