July in Disneyworld

So my vacation time from work is July 8 -18. I really want to do a Disneyworld vacation:) Can anyone tell me how bad the weather will be and how bad the crowds usually are in July? We went end of August in 2005 and it was pretty hot and thundershowers everyday. My kids were much smaller then so Im hoping they can deal with the heat better. So is it worth going in July?

It will be about as hot as it gets, and humidity will be high (but not quite as high as August). There is typically an afternoon storm.

Crowds will be fairly high.

On the plus side, you will get nice long park hours.

July is our hottest, IMO. It's the humidity that'll get ya. But it's doable. The main thing is to take something that you can wipe sweat with. The humidity makes it hard for sweat to evaporate which is how the body cools itself. If you take a washcloth or something with you to wipe your forehead and neck, you'll feel alot cooler.

For the afternoon storms, I think that made some things better :) Most of the tourists run back to hotels or hide in restaurants. My party continued with our day with practically no waits for attractions. :)

I normally go in July. It's not all that bad. Bring one of those spray fans, they go a long way. Water can be quite useless unless you drink it early. By the afternoon it'll be hot (unless you like hot water).

Other than that, summer crowds are quite high (no school), you have to plan your day so that you'll be able to get fastpasses in a way that will minimize your waiting time. Standing around all day in 90+ degree weather is no fun. You'll probably find yourself walking through stores in order to briefly cool off.

There are normally storms in the afternoon, they typically last for 5-10 minutes. Although, there have been years when I've seen long storms or no storms at all.

Other than that, lots of pool time, and working on the tan.

We were there this past July.

It was hot and crowded, however if you prepare for it, its not so bad. :ROFLOL:

We are not AK people, and spent the least amount of time in that park, it felt WAY hotter than the other parks, and there is little to no AC to cool down in. That was the only park we had to take a mid-day break on. I swear I was cooked well that day.

Given a choice, I would not go back in July, but if it were my only option, I would go in a heartbeat.

I thought it was unbearable - but have to say - this past December in FRIDGID cold was definitely way worse. I'd rather be sweating, eating ice cream, going in the pool & water parks and staying out late than wearing so many sweatshirts I can't move my arms and having to peel off 7 layers every time we go inside.

And I second the spray fan! It's amazing what a difference it makes. And if you buy on site ($15-ish) they will refill with ice/water at any stand that sells them during your stay. They ice makes a HUGE difference! Plan an afternoon break and DEFINITELY take advantage of the late hours when it's cooler.

I went this past July 4th-10th and like everyone says it was hot. Since I live in New Orleans it was nothing I wasnt use to though but for people from up north I could see it being too hot. It did rain most days we were there but only for a short time. Like others said if your not afraid to get a little wet then its no big deal. It also helps to cool things off and thin out the crowds too. The crowds were pretty thick but I'm use to that. I would have to say the avg wait time was atleast 30 min for the bigger rides with alot being 60+min. I would go back in July but it would not be my first choice of time to go.

We go the last week in July every year. We love it! Its not a summer vacation without it being hot. That way we get a lot of use out of the resort pool. Plus parks are open late so you get the maximum time you can from your ticket each day.

I'll be there the same week that you're considering, and the one "plus" as far as crowds go is that it's the week AFTER the 4th of July, and crowds will likely be one step down from where they'd be the week prior.
