Hi all, was just sititng here thinking how disappointed i was that this yr we are are not going to the world in July like we usually do, this yr we decided to do something different so we are going in Nov. we will be there from Nov. 21- Nov 30.

I know when we had been to the world in July ( usually the 1st week) for the past 4 yrs the crowds were pretty high I guess becasue of folks taking summer vacation.

So I was wondering if anyone new what the crowds were like during Thanksgiving, if they were more crowed, less crowed or about the same as during the July 4th holiday.

The 21st through the 22/23rd will be fine (with the 21st being the lowest crowds). You picked a HIGH CROWD week (Thanksgiving) because everyone is on vacation and as the week goes on it gets progressively more crowded. I think Touring Plans has the week of Thanksgiving listed as an 8 or 9. Though, because you have been there in July, I do not think you will notice an extreme difference. Just note, the Wednesday, Thanksgiving and the days after (through Sunday) will probally be PACKED!

I have told my family that on Thanskgiving day that we will NOT go into any parks. Since we have a villa at SSR I plan on cooking dinner on Thanksgiving. We can get up watch the parade and maybe we could just go to DTD & do some shopping.

I have thought of registering for touring plans and I did not know how accurate it was.

So what does touring plans have for July holiday? it is also at a 8or9.

Yes, July 4th week is listed as 8 and 9.

I was a skeptic of Touring Plans for the past 2 years (always had a membership, just never used it). Then this past May I decided to give it a try. They were right on with every prediction -so much so that I was done with parks early in the day (could rest midday) and return later on. I LOVE TOURING PLANS.

Cool, i might just give them a try, I mean for 8.95 it is not that big of out of pocket expense and it it helps us enjoy the parks more, I am all for it.

The crowd levels might be the same, but I think it might be slightly more enjoyable due to the difference in weather. November is nothing like July in that respect!

oh yeah! My DH said he's not sure how to pack, since we are going in July it was just shorts & tank tops, but he is thinking this yr we might be able to get away with shorts & a tshirt, but in the evenings we might need long sleeve.

Very true about the weather. July is SWEALTERING! Hot and Humid. I have been in early December and the weather was PERFECT! I wore shorts and short sleeves everyday. At night, it does get chilly - a lightweight hoody or jacket will be in order. But the latter fall is a GREAT TIME!!!

I'd pick November, even though Thanksgiving week is packed. There will not be a huge difference in crowds since you are used to July, so as others have said pick the month with the cooler weather. And as an added bonus, you will get to experience the Christmas decorations and activities. They are amazing! It is my very favorite time of year to go to WDW.

We just got back from our first ever summertime trip, and I honestly do not know how people stand it. Even though I am from Texas and am used to heat and humidity, I thought I was going to die by about 3:00 each day. We still had a magical trip, but physically I was miserable. And the body odor of all the sweaty people made me feel like I was going to throw up several times. And it is only early June! I can't even imagine what July and August are like.

After this recent trip, I'd take crowds over summer heat any day!

!

That was one other thing we wanted was to see the parks & resorts decorated. I looked at going during 12/18/09- 1/2/10, but the DVC points were more than what we had. So that is why we picked the dates we currently have.

Maybe next yr for x-mas we will go.

This is why I avoid June - August. BO of people during cooler months is bad enough but during the summer it is even worse. And do not let it rain - BO gets even worse. For some reason, some people think it is acceptable to take a dip in the pool in the morning and head right to the parks (no shower). NASTY!

When do the Christmas Decorations go up in the resorts? I have always wanted to see the Gingerbread house at GF and Wilderness Lodge decked out.

Me too, that is one thing DH said he has to see the ginger bread house @ the GF.

I have read on these boards that some will be up, but I do not think everything goes on until the weekend after thanksgiving.

We were scheduled to leave 11/28, but decided to stay 2 more days hoping got get the full effect of the decorations.
