This may seem dumb, but. . . Does anyone know why Fantasy in the Sky will be presented on July 4th instead of Wishes?

Also, might we see any perimeter fireworks in the Wishes presentations on the weekend before the 4th? I've been told a few times that there are perimeter fireworks in Wishes on holidays. Can anyone fill me in? (Boo52??)

Thanks!

I don't know about 4th of July but for NYE, they did multiple shows -Wishes, Fantasy in the Sky, then a countdown from ten and it was "in the round." They also did Wishes Finale 360 during MVMCP last year. I imagine they'll do something extra like that for the 4th. I've heard they do a nice presenation that day but I don't know the specifics.

Yes as Martin said we will be presenting a special patriotic FiTS on both July 3rd and 4th. It will be launched from the regular Wishes positions as well as the island site in the Seven Seas Lagoon and 9 perimeter positions around the park. There will be no special Wishes during that weekend. The reason that Wishes will not be presented is when people come to the MK on the 4th they want a patriotic themed show. Wishes does not fufill that want. Hope that sums it up for you. The next Wishes show that will have perimeters will be at the World Premier of the new Halloween themed Wishes on Sept 30th for MNSSHP. Sorry still can't reveal the name yet but I can assure you the title Wicked Wishes is no longer.

Wow! Now I really want to make an effort to see them!!

We have traveled to Disney the last several years over the 4th of July, one year we saw Illuminations on the 4th, and last year we actually didnt' see any - we had been at Epcot but left before crowds...

Question: does the beach at the Polynesian get really crowded to see the 4th of July fireworks? How early do you suggest we stake out our strip of sand?

Again this is not the Fantasy in the Sky that ran in the park for many years. It is a Patriotic version only used on the 4th.

Do you know about how long the 4th show is? If it's short, couldn't they have just tagged it on the end of Wishes (because if I remember correctly...and I probably don't...before Wishes, they used to show the regular FitS followed by a patriotic finale).

We are going to be in WDW on July 4th --- our first time being there on
July 4th. Any suggestions on the best things to do and see. We do visit WDW every year so know our way around. I look forward to your ideas. Thanks!!

The 4th show is 9 minutes even in length. The first shell isn;t fired until 1:11 into the track, so really the fireworks segment is only 7:49. The reason they don't tag it onto the end of Wishes is because Wishes was designed as a standalone show never really meant to have anything extra at the end. Anything more would detract from the story being told. At least that's what I had been told when we opened. As far as I remember the Patriotic FITS was always a standalone. There was tags added to NYE shows and during 100 YOM.

Boo, I hope you don`t mind a correction, but FITS in the early 90`s had a Patriotic tag instead of the regular ending. The main bodies of the show were identical, it was the ending that swapped for the weeks around the 4th of July. BTW - you have a PM!

Yes Martin you are correct. It was a tag of Sandi Patti's version of the Star Spangled Banner which is an extended and very beautiful version of the song. This version ran during Disney's Star Spangled Celebration promotion at the MK from June - Aug 1991, when the 20th anniversary stuff was getting ready to roll out in Sept 1991 the tag returned to normal. Thanks for the correction.

Both days are at 21:00 (9PM)

Thanks. Say HI to Neil for me. If he doesn't remember me, just say "that guy you almost puked red Tampico on, on the boat ride back from Stingray City on your Disney Cruise in January 2003".
