July 4 Events

I know I should take advantage of going to the parks on July 4th, but being a local means dealing with insane crowds and traffic. I'm too good for that

Great advertisment for "Voices." Can't help but consider them a definite favorite.

I wish I went to the parks on the 4th; but it gets just too darn crowded.

Nonetheless, thanks for the information! I'm glad Disney takes the time to celebrate something traditional and truly great. :)

I will be arriving at WDW on July 4 in the late evening. My family has decided not to go to the parks that night. We still want to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Where would be the best place to watch them outside of the park?

We will be at WDW the week after the 4th. How bad will crowds be? Can anyone who's been tell me their experience? I've been during the middle of June, so should I be able to handle these crowds?

Hmm, I have a video of the Show from Magic Kingdom last year. I took a video of the fireworks over the lagoon. :) I suppose I could upload it... if enough people want to see it...

Well you know I for sure want to see it!

Aside from that,

A previous person asked how to see it without going to the park.

Go to any area around the lake. GF, Poly, or the Ferry Landing.

Honestly, the best place is outside the Magic Kingdom between the Ferry Dock and the Monorail Station. You get double fireworks, and the 4th of July Barges on the lake. :)

And get there about 4 hours early. I dunno who said the crowds weren't bad. If 65,000 in the park and another 10,000-15,000, and maybe even higher around the lagoon isn't bad.

Hey Bill, how do you get "double" fireworks? Is there music for those fireworks? And which ferry landing and Monorail stop are you talking about? Isn't there a ferry landing at the TTC? Or, are you talking about the one right outside the MK gate? Forgive me if I sound stupid, I haven't been there in a year. Sorry for all the questions!

Sorry I'm not bill but I can answer this.

He's talking about the Ferry Landing at the TTC. YOu get double the fireworks because you can see the one's in the MK and the ones around the lake at the same time since you are back behind them all. Whereas if you are in the MK, you can't see the one's behind you if you are looking at the castle and if you turn around you miss the one's at the castle.

yes music is piped in to that area. It is not as loud at the Ferry Landing but if you walk a little over towards the Poly it gets stronger but you can definately hear it piped in at the Ferry Landing. It's just a matter of if you have a bunch of screaming kids to how well you hear it, which is no different in the park.

I htink it was more than 15 minutes, because the boats would have stopped running that close to the fireworks...and all the cruisers were on the other side of the water bridge. Over on Bay lake....

Okay, on the 4th of July, the Magic Kingdom does a double showing of fireworks. A Mirror Image if you will. You can view the ones behind the Magic Kingdom (the usual shooting place) or the ones that are shot up from the middle of the Seven Seas Lagoon on the island. They are IDENTICAL. So don't worry if you can't see both at the same time. You're only gonna wanna focus on one for the whole show.

Now, the Magic Kingdom also does what are called perimeter fireworks, which are shot from around the outside edge of the park. It's best to be in the middle of the park to see those, but it's really okay to be next to the Magic Kingdom Docks as well, between the Wilderness Lodge Resort launch, (It's usually there, sometimes it's the Polynesian and Grand Floridian Launch, it depends on where they have the boats docking that day) and the Resort Monorail ramp. There's a great view there looking out over the lagoon.

And yes, there is music, however it's not the normal high quality Wishes Music. It's "okay" quality 4th of July Music. Also note that WISHES will not be shown on the 4th of July... As far as I know, they aren't even closing Fantasyland this year for the 4th... (something that is done when they use the roof-top fireworks for Wishes) So I'm assuming that you'll be able to get a decent spot in Fantasyland this year for the show... but don't hold me to that... ask a CM if they are closing Fantasyland for the fireworks before you decide to see it there.

Also, please note that all Monorail & Boat Service will be suspended for about 30 minutes when, before, and after the fireworks go off. If you're gonna get to MK, you need to be there 15 min early, because all boats will be shut down, as well as the monorails. That's 30 minutes total. 10 before, 15 during, and 5 afterwards.

Okay, that's about it from me, now I'll continue looking for the tape with the show on it. :) Believe it or not, I have 2, and I can't find either one... LOL. Don't worry though, I will. :)

And you'd be wrong. LOL. No, that's definately NOT what I'm talking about. If you see it there, the other fireworks will be way too small. Almost a mile and a half away.

Nah, we we were on a boat 15 minutes before hand. Here's what we do...

We stayed at the lodge, and we got in line for the boat at about 8:20. The boat arrived at about 8:30. The boat then went over to Ft. Wilderness and got there about 5 minutes later. Then at about 8:40 it headed over to Magic Kingdom, where it docked for the duration of the show. We were the last boat into the MK Docks. lol. It's actually funny that you mentioned that... I vaguely remember the pilot yelling on the radio that he was going to MK anyway... Perhaps he was told not to dock? I'm not really sure. LOL. But we got there only about 15 min early.

I know who that pilot was...
