Journey To Atlantis Or Kraken?

Ok. Which one of these two fantastic rides do you think is better?

I will have to go with Atlantis as the airtime is great and it's just so exciting.

But Kraken is awesome too.

How about you guys.

Journey to Atlantis gets my vote

I vote Journey to Atlantis, I love the bit of theming on the inside of the ride before the drop. It's been a few years since I rode it, but I recall that being my favorite part. I also recall getting absolutely soaked on it too, though. Maybe that's what I got for sitting in the front. Kraken was cool as well, but I think JTA has more atmosphere.

Kraken. I agree it's the best coaster in Orlando. Nothing beats the rush of flying down that first drop!

In the past year or so, they have eliminated some of the water elements, in response to customer complaints. I remember riding it for the first time in the winter of 2002, and I got soaked and walked around miserable. I didn't ride it again until this year, and it's a lot drier than it used to be (but you do still get wet).

It's a hard question to answer, as they are two totally different types of rides and are therefore, to some degree, incomperable. Journey to Atlantis is more of a Splash Mountain type of ride, whereas, the Kraken is obviously a roller coaster. They are both a blast. I could possibly say Journey to Atlantis for the mere fact that I can enjoy going on it with my wife, whereas she won't do the Kraken with me. But being high up in the air and looking out over Orlando is kind of cool, too.

BTW, is it possible to see Disney World from the top of the Kraken? I have always tried, but have been unsuccessful. Perhaps it is in another direction other than the direction I am able to see.

Hubby did Kraken 18 times in a row. I only went twice. That was enough for me. Journey to Atlantis only once, so I guess Kraken wins by a landslide for the two of us.

I haven't ever seen MK, but you can certainly see SSE at Epcot with that big arm up over it. Referencing Google Earth, Kraken's big lift faces roughly SE, so you have to either sit on the right side of the car and crane your neck to look back over your right shoulder and glimpse it, or you can look really fast toward the right once you get all the way to the top, as the train begins to turn bfore the dive.

I recently realized that you can glimpse SSE from a couple of the overpasses along I-4 not far from SeaWorld (the Sand Lake Road overpass and the ramp from the Beeline to I-4 west). I haven't ever managed to see MK at such a distance, which doesn't make much since since the castle is nearly as tall as SSE (isn't it?).

The question was regarding which one a person likes better. And that kind of assumes that everyone involved has ridden them both.;)
Ahhh.... :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: Sorry...

I think Corrus *might* have been trying to say you ought not like one better, you should like each differently.

But that's just me putting words onto his keyboard.

I don't know why anybody would compare JTA to Kraken? They're both great rides but coaster people are going to say Kraken and non-coaster people will say JTA.They're different rides and shouldn't be compared to each other.I however will agree that Kraken is the best coaster in Orlando(Orlando, not counting Tampa and Busch Gardens). And as far as log flumes JTA, Splash Mountain and Dudley are all great in their own way but JTA isn't the best of the three but isn't far behind!!

I thought Journey to Atlantis was a big disappointment. The story and theming seemed pretty half-assed to me. I also got much wetter than expected, and it was very warm out that day, so thats another reason I didn't like it all that much.

Kraken is definitely the best coaster in Orlando, so it would get my vote.

and has anyone been able to figure out why, on Journey to Atlantis, they play the BeetleJuice theme before you drop down the coaster portion. Weird.

HA!

I went to SeaWorld for the first time in a long time Wednesday and I had never been on JtA before. When we were at the photo monitors, I noticed it playing there too. I thought it was a little...weird
