Are there any chances of a restoration with Dreamfinder, maybe for Epcot's 30th anniversary? Does the old track stll exist under the current Imageworks?

EPCOT's 20th Anniversary was nine years ago. Unless you were referring to EPCOT's 30th, in which case maybe if the attraction closed tomorrow they'd be able to pull of an extensive refurbishment to refubrish the attraction to its former glory in time for the 30th...but probably not.

I've heard that parts of the old track are still extant, but given the problems of the old track I doubt they would use it again. There are and have been plans to refurbish Imagination for a fourth time, though they've been on and off for years now. They have plans ready to go, it's just a matter of spending that has management a bit hung up.

I really like the idea of truly overhauling the pavilion like Test Track and add a trackless system. Pooh's Hunny Hunt has had it for how many years??? And it STILL hasn't come stateside? The pavilion needs something extraordinary to keep it from falling into the same rut it has with every version.

I will agree, if it is just another patchwork rehab that doesn't bring in the numbers, I guess, why bother. Really. There has to be a justification for an upgrade. It would have to be on par with Test Track and nearly Sorin'. If they can accomplish THAT, it would be killer for the park and maybe build Figment into the franchise he has the potential to be

How great would it be if Figment were known out of the parks? Marketing failed in the late 80s. Park management adjusted, but the wrong way.

For many, Figment is the most important non Magic Kingdom park addition to the Disney catalog. It could be even more if treated correctly. Between Figment and The Muppets, no wonder millions have flocked to the Shreks and Madegascars. They are accessable and promoted with such enthusiasum. Meanwhile Disney is too busy Montanaing and CampRocking to pay any attention to what already worked.

Seriously doubt there will be any kind of refurb, and certainly there won't be any kind of restoration; they got rid of it for a reason in the first place.

But unless you know a corporate sponsor willing to shell out 50 million for an overhaul and another 50 million for a couple year contract to keep it running, you can absolutely answer this one with a resounding no.

Sad but true...even though Disney rakes in billions as a company, they still won't build stuff in Epcot without corporate handouts.

You do also have to ask yourself "Why would they bother?"

Seriously, there are already 3 of Disney's greatest attractions in the park. Why spend more. Until the park finds itself in a DCA situation where it takes to the #4 WDW like AK was pre Nemo/Everest, would there be a point. The main purpose of Epcot from a WDW perspective is to get people to spend 3-5x on dinner there instead of a chain off site. There is enough attractions to satisfy guests currently. What would be the value added? Is the park looking to attract the sub-5 year old crowd more after FLE? Probably not for another 5 years. Nemo, Donald, SSE, and The Land provide enough for that age group.

Not that I wouldn't LOVE the attraction restored to greatness-- WDW needs to find a justifyable purpose to do it.

At this point? Blow it up and start over. Take a hint from PI....

Another take on your idea is...reimagine the pavilion using the current characters, such as Shrek meets the 21st century technology. Keep the Imagionation aspect, but change the character to better associate with kids today.
Don't get me wrong, I love Figment and the Dreamfinder, but the kids nowadays know nothing about them unless they go to Epcot and to JII and see them. By using an established, current character they could still use the Imagination side, just using someone like Shrek or some other equivilent brand that the KIDS would identify with.

DHS...needs to have an overhaul like DCA and return it to a 'WORKING' studio with the addition of CARSland would be a great addition. Bring back the Backlot tour of years ago, when it was an awesome attraction. Now, its just a BORING ride through the wardobe and props buildings and off to Catastrophy Canyon.

MK and AK are ok right now. Epcot and DHS need some love and re- imagineering!

Has anyone been on the Undicovered Future World Four and has seen the old Imageworks?

They have discontinued going up there when I went..The only thing I saw was where they store the ride vehicles and where they clean the 3D glasses......very........um......un-imaginative........:(

If you ask specifically.....they will take you up, at least my tour guide did. She would not allow pics or let us walk around much....surprisingly alot was intact but in no condition to be used again....cabinetry was there with things removed....but for being closed now for 10 years alot still exists....sad that the area just sits there with no plans of future use....pretty much the whole pavilion is in the same state....will probably never be what it once was.

Ironically we just recorded an Armchair Imagineering show about the Imagination Pavilion as something we could hold back for a rainy day release (more likely we'd release when we couldn't get together to record, or we were having other technical issues).

I think the consensus here is that this attraction needs to be a family friendly attraction that has a significant demand - it seems that the dark rides that meet that description either have to be in Fantasyland, or have a "gimmick". To me that means that the best approach here is the Pooh's Hunny Hunt ride system for an all new attraction. Others have said that was on the table at some point, and to me it makes so much sense for this pavilion.

I'd also like to see an overhaul to the post show area as well into something that celebrates Imagineers, and the Imagineering process.
