"Journey into Imagination with Figment and Captain EO, that's all science stuff...."

Some people just hate learning. Less lines for the rest of us. Getting to the point, none of those attractions have any educational value whatsoever.

In America we're puzzled as to why we keep slipping further and further behind other nations educationally. Yet heaven forbid we get exposed to a little science, culture, or history while visiting a theme park.

I agree with EpcotTraveler...shorter wait times for us.

Direct quote.

The state of some things Epcot and the perception of them make me sad sometimes.

:ROFLOL: Wow, lets have a round of applause for Jimbo! :sohappy:

The last thing this Country needs is to invest any time or money in science. Heck, if there were no science, there would be no ANYTHING! :brick:

I completely agree! Why is it that EPCOT suffers?

I think you all missed the point of Jimbo's post. The quote comes from someone who obviously believed the only pavilion in Future World which isn't partially science-based (Imagination) centered on a science theme - they simply didn't understand what was in the building so they skipped it. At least, as far as I can tell (and this may be me projecting), he's saying these people are, at the very least, painfully un-curious (non-curious?). All of the other pavilions (agriculture, space, transportation, energy, and what's left of communications and oceanography) clearly have at least a partial basis in science and technological advancements.

Secondarily (and again, this might be me projecting), I think he's pointing out that in the past, the average guest would have no problems figuring out the various pavilion themes (for a variety of theming, land cohesion, and marketing reasons).

Advancing science is a byproduct of imagination, but imagination is not limited to the scientific.

The original concept for the pavilion was founded by this theme. This leads us to --"What about science?"

EO has no scientific merit to it at all. Self gratification at the highest level.

The pavilion was meant as a means to push past what the other pavilions had shown you throughout your Epcot journey.

To get Imagination = Science just blows my mind. But the imagination institute that promotes the absolute lack of imagination has lead guests to this assumption and generealization.

This pavilion has an identity crisis and it sucks. That is all.

Don't the CMs outside (and inside) wear lab coats? That may be why some think it's "all science stuff."

When I first went to Epcot I was 14. I liked it, but I was never here nor there with it. Then I was 29 and went and I "got" it. Yes, Epcot is like Magic Kingdom, you have to "get" it too but in a different way. You appreciate the countries and the different lands and the architecture.

I love Epcot for it's original intent.... I feel it has slipped away a bit over the years .... but that is because Disney is listening to what they hear guests asking for... (unfortunately) .....
