Looking forward to this. I have been watching documentaries lately. This will be a nice bit of fiction to watch ;)

I remember when south by southwest was music instead of a traveling snake oil show.
Thank you! The SxSW attendees of 20-30 years ago would have asked the hard questions.

You know, when pop-up parties weren’t sponsored by Doritos and most people had never heard of it.

I was at an early morning presentation one year of ‘Fans, bands, and brands: how to expand your reach’ and the presenter was clearly not ready for such tough questions at, what was then, just a music industry conference.

He didn’t realize that many a deal was hammered out at breakfast and most of the power players were up early, ha.

I like Dana for CEO. Why do you disagree?
She would continue the modernist destruction of TWDC and the values it stood for. Josh is more principled but he is quiet about such things. I know people who worked with him earlier in his career and he was very empathetic and he understands what makes the company, even if he hasn’t shown that since stepping up as parks chair.

ETA: let me put it this way, if Dana Walden becomes CEO she will complete the destruction of TWDC as we knew it.

I think Dana is incredibly intelligent, with fantastic creative instincts, and she has run her businesses, at both Disney and Fox, incredibly well for decades.

Josh has a strong business background. Dana has a stellar creative background and she has a phenomenal understanding of audiences. I think having a creative at the helm would be ideal.

I don’t know what gives you the impression that Dana stands in conflict with The Walt Disney Company’s historic mission to tell great stories that entertain and inspire the world. Look at her career.

When you say “modernist” destruction are you referring to The Walt Disney Company producing content outside of the “family friendly” fare that the “Disney” brand is known for? Stretching beyond kids and family entertainment was a business necessity that has ensured the survival of the Disney brand, which has continued to produce exclusively family friendly entertainment.

More specifically, could you define the values that The Walt Disney Company should stand for and provide evidence that Dana Walden stands against those values?

Ideally, I would have Josh D’Amaro as President and Dana Walden as CEO. But we’ll see.

Dana just went to the Oscars with Bob.

Now, Josh is going to Tech Lollapalooza with one of his rivals while the Parks division is flatlining.

And some of you people think he’s got next.
The fact that Dana went instead of Alan was very telling in my opinion.
Iger, D’Amaro, Walden, and Bergman were all at the Oscars sitting next to each other. It wasn’t just Iger and Walden.

ahahahahahahahahahaha Sorry, you lost me there. The man who told 2000 people to either move to Florida or quit their jobs with no unemployment coverage because they were "voluntarily leaving"? And then a year later canned the move and demanded those unfortunates who did sell their CA homes and move to FL to move back or quit? That guy?

Yeah, no. He's not principled. He's spineless.

Thank you for clarifying that. I haven’t watched the Oscars in years but have been hearing from multiple people that Walden was sitting next to Iger with no mention of the others and made an assumption. Classic mistake on my part and I apologize for having made it.

I agree that he is push over and think that he’s spinelessness is probably what got him on the short list for CEO because the board doesn’t want to be challenged.

That being said I don’t think it’s fair to blame the Florida office debacle on him. The mandates to move or quit was absolutely nonsense but I think a lot of aspects of the situation were out of Josh’s hands especially after Florida suddenly became the most hostile place in the world to the company.
