I just got back from a staring contest with my childhood idol, Gobo Fraggle.
The Orange County Regional History Center in dowtown Orlando is currently hosting "Jim Henson's Fantastic World" until May 3rd. The
exhibit was smaller than I expected but awesome nonetheless. It
was only $6 per person with a AAA discount and there is free
parking at the parking garage across the street from the musuem.
Some of the puppets on display are Kermit, Bert and Ernie, Rowlf, Gobo Fraggle and Cantus Fraggle, amongst others. They have tons of original
hand drawings and storyboards from everything from the Muppet Show to
the Dark Crystal. They also have a Muppet Gift Shop with interesting items. A replica Kermit the Frog puppet for $250. Movie programs from
"The Muppets Take Manhatten" for $29. And lots of plush.
I'm gonna go back to the Exhibit in March because Jim Henson's widow is
hosting a Q and A session. If you're in the least bit interested in Jim Henson's life it's definitely worth a look. If you're a Muppetfile like myself
then it's mandatory attendance. See ya there...
And Gobo won the staring contest.
Here's a link with more info.
