I don't know how new this info is, as I only go to the World during christmas...but today when I went to Downtown Disney, I was dissappointed to see that the Jessica Rabbit sign at Downtown Disney was gone......I liked that, especially since it was the only representation of Jessica in Disney World....maybe someday it'll return :(

:( Well, Jessica Rabbit has always been a symbol of everything provocative, but the sign wasn't that bad. I always liked it because it took a little bit of the kiddieness out of WDW.

Sadly, it's not really news to most of us, but I miss Jessica too. Thankfully I got a pic of me standing under the sign before it went away, not realizing it was the last opportunity I'd have to do so!

It makes me sad that they've all but eliminated Roger Rabbit and his gang from the parks. It's like they never existed. He is my favorite character, and it pains me that I can never see him anymore. Remember when he used to be on regular patrol?

Yeah, WFRR? is one of my most favourite movies, and its a shame that its not very well known anymore these days. If only they'd make the Roger Rabbit sequal and make him gain popularity again.

Add me to the list of Roger Rabbit fans. I would go way out of my way to get some pics with a Roger Rabbit character if they still had one. I miss him!

I still remember all the Roger Rabbit stuff in the old Toontown area of MGM back in the day. I was so sad when it all went away!

When you say "the Roger Rabbit sequel," are you talking about a film of the second book? I read the first one, but not the second one. The first book had almost nothing at all to do with the film, for those who don't know.

As much as I'd love to see more Roger around, I'm not sure that the film lends itself very easily to a sequel, and I'd hate to see something subpar. But I do wish we could see more Roger and Co. around the parks, just like we do with other classic characters. I'm guessing the reason we don't is licensing issues... does anyone know for sure?

I know there are some licensing issues. I was told by one of our managers that Roger was removed from Spectro because we no longer had the licensing rights. Probablly the same reason he has disapeared from the parks.

That's a real shame. I wonder if that's why Jessica disappeared as well.

It's times like this that I really wish I knew the whole story. Obviously Disney has some Roger Rabbit stuff still in the parks, including a Disneyland dark ride and an oversized icon at Pop Century. They've also had the character in the parks before, so what's changed? Could be that the license to have the character in the parks was only for a limited amount of time, but then I wonder why it wasn't renewed. Warner Bros. (or someone else) wanted too much money? Disney didn't feel it would be a good investment so long after the film? I'm just really intrigued.

Whatever the problem is, I would so dearly love to see it resolved. Roger has a kind of nostalgia for me that surpasses many other Disney characters. Hey Disney, I'll chip in some... let's see.... I have a couple of dollars here...

Here is an idea that I would like to see: Take the Jessica sign from PI and put it on the wall on the back of the Studios on Mickey Ave at MGM. Let make that wall as a tribute to all of Disney animated characters such as a walk of fame of Disney movies. Since the area is already a character greeting area it would make a great backdrop to your photos.

yeah...it doesn't make any sense as even the shops are now offering MORE merchandise that has Jessica on them, just yesterday I bought a pair of boxers with her on them at Pop century, and last year I bought a beach towel and beach shirt with her on it. If they have the rights for that stuff, which blantantly says disney world on it......I don't get why they'd take down a sign :(

The sign was severely damaged in the West End Stage demolition. I'd say beyond repair. We saw Jessica in three mangled pieces through the construction fence the day after it came down.

If you know where to look in D-MGM, you can spot some Roger Rabbit stuff. Look at some of the windows above Hollywood and Vine (next to 50's prime time). If you look closely you can see where he shot through the window out of Maroon's office. If you go behind Keystone Clothiers (where the slushes are sold) walk towards 50's Prime Time and turn around. You'll spot a Maroon billboard with Jessica, Roger and Baby Herman. Look at some of the hand/footprints in the courtyard of The Great Movie Ride. Yup, Roger Rabbit is in there too. And, of course you can spot the tractor (forget what that thing is called at the moment) that runs Judge Doom over and reveals that he is a toon is in the Backlot Tour. And somewhere (can't remember where) the Toon Patrol (weasels) car is somewhere in the park. Oh, and look above you in that little shop by the outside eating area between LMA and Backlot. You'll spot a lot of stuff from the warehouse Judge Doom revealed his plans at the end of the movie.

I don't really know about merchandice but I do know that the characters where only licensed to be in the parks for a litle and that time is up. I know that they built the attractions a while ago and I am sure that they wouldnt tear it down but I am also pretty sure that they no longer have the rights to build a new ride about Roger. But then I am not an expert... or all informed. The only thing I knwo for sure is that the license involved to allow Roger to be in the parades is long expired.

I didn't know there was a secone book. But the film was supposed to be called "Who Discovered Roger Rabbit?" and would've starred Leonardo DeCaprio. Apparently there was some sort of fall out between Steven Spielberg and Micheal Eiser ( thanks alot mike. ) and that's why there are liscensing issues between Disney and Amblin Entertainment.

Thank for the infro about the sign, I did not known it was damage. My idea about that wall on Mickey Ave at MGM can still come about if they want to draw each character on the wall each time a character is inducted into a Disney hall of fame. Each movie can have a plaque on the wall or a star on Mickey Ave just so there something to extend the animation courtyard down Mickey Avenue until you get to the Backlot tour entrance. There is nothing down that way now worthy enough to go down that avenue.
