Trip Report JenniferS was live! 9/6/17 - 9/16/17

This will be my fourth live trip report in a year, and after NYC last week, I thought Hubby had reached his limit, but he says, "No, go ahead, do a live trip report. It lets me control the tv while you talk to your friends." (As we meet more of my WDWDisney friends, he uses finger quotes around "friends" less and less.)

So, here we go, another live trip report. I really don't have the will to do a post trip report, so it's "live" or nothing. Once I'm out of the bubble, I'm out.

Introductions.

That would be me, Jennifer, on the left. Big Disney fan, big Blue Jays fan, big Hubby fan. Ace, in the middle - although he will always be BJ Birdie to me. Hubby, Mike, on the right. Although Mike is the one who first introduced me to Disney in 1991, it's not really his thing. He goes with me most years to make me happy. And also for the food.

As with our past three trips, we will be spending 11 days, 10 nights at Coronado Springs Resort. We booked a BounceBack offer before checking out last year, before knowing how much construction would be going on. Oh well, it is what it is. And what it is, is my favourite resort in my Happy Place; so it's all good.

We have a Preferred King room booked, which means Casitas 1, 2, or 3. Nonetheless, I think I will be sending in a room preference fax tomorrow asking for a refurbed King room in either 7A or 8A. I'll be happy either way. I am ridiculously easy to please whilst in WDW.

Yes, I am one of those Free Dining parasites. By booking the BB offer last year, we are actually getting the full DDP for free, instead of having to upgrade from QDP. I put great thought and effort into our ADR's. Mike is a big guy and eats a lot. The heat and humidity really kills my appetite, so Mike eats at least half of my meals too. (I've recently packed on 20 pounds, so that may be a good thing.)

Next up, our somewhat loosey goosey itinerary.

Between info left in our room, Channel 3, and inquiries at the front desk, here's the sitch:
Parks are closing early(ish) Saturday, and will remain closed all day Sunday and Monday.

We've been advised to prepare for a total lockdown for all or part of those two days. This means that Pepper Market and all restaurants and food locations will be closed. Guests will NOT be allowed to leave their rooms during a lockdown.

There may be mandated driving bans as well, which means that all Disney transport will be suspended. Having a rental car will be of no use if driving bans are implemented.

We just went to the Rix and bought 4 chicken Caesar wraps (all that was left) and four iced teas. Those, with the bottled water and NutriGrain bars, Fibre One bars, and apple sauce that we brought, and Gatorade and fruit that we bought will be more than enough to sustain us. Plus, our ADR @ 'Ohana tomorrow should be completely safe; and let's be honest, you can eat enough there to last a few days.

ADR's lost to Irma - Chef Art's on Sunday, and Sci Fi on Monday. How brilliant am I having cancelled the Wild Africa Trek for Monday and the ROL/Tusker House dinner package for tomorrow? Instead, I picked up 'Ohana for Mike. (Good things come from putting someone else first. :))

It's not ideal, but I fully trust Disney to keep us safe. 24-48 hours confined to my room with my "ride or die" is not the worst thing that has ever happened.

And literally as I was about to hit "Post Reply", this was hand delivered to our door:

I'd start introducing myself to the neighbors and go buy a deck of cards and another case of beer.
We don't have very many neighbours. We're in a building being painted and dozens and dozens of rooms being totally gutted and refurbed.

Mike has 34 or 35 beers (of 40) left. He should be good. :hilarious: It's not like he has to share.

Backtracking now ....

After we went to see Chewie, we went to see Kylo Ren. Well, after last year, Mike went to see Kylo Ren, and I planned on scooching right through, with NO EYE CONTACT.

Except, I had to open my big mouth. While we were waiting for Mike's turn to step up, I suggested Mike try the Force choke thingy (using the technical term here), and somehow he heard me. He abandoned the people he was with, strode across the room purposefully, got right in my face, and shouted at me, "No!"

Holy (insert any four-letter word you want), I nearly threw up. The streak nearly ended.

I don't like him. I mean, I really don't like him.

That's two years in a row that he's been mean to me. For no reason. Forget the Force choke thingy - next time Mike should kick him in the (pick a four-letter word ... and pluralize it!)

After Launch Bay, it was time to go boing, boing. Mike's knees were shot from the two rides on Toy Story, so he sat it out.

First I used my FP, then I used his.
On the second time through, a young girl (15-ish) was given the red time card to take up. I'm not sure if she was being legit or not, but she ran past the entire 15 in line ahead of her, saying, "Excuse me, but I have to deliver this to some guy up there".

Both times I rode, everybody in BOTH stand-by and FP walked straight into the library.

At the gift shop, Mikey tried on hats, and made me pick up these cool luggage tags.

(Too Charlie Harper, I say.)

Retiring soon, he bought me this Pandora charm.

Wait time says10 mins - except it wasn't. We walked straight into a pod/capsule ?? that had two rows of people, and three rows of no people.

For the first time in close to a decade, I actually put on the glasses and watched the screen. (Usually I close my eyes, and keep my head as close to my knees as possible.
Anyway, like I said, I watched - Can you say Mission:Space 3D?

Ahaha, that is all.

The Swan and Dolphin are absolutely lovely, but sadly our short, hot trek from DHS yielded nothing more than a blister on my left foot. The pool cabana shop which was holding something for Dianne had shut down many hours early; with no plans to reopen until Tuesday at the earliest.
