To answer the OP question, visiting nowadays for your first time isn't like it used to be, say, 20 years ago. In the past, the famous Disney "costumer service" was much more noticeable, the rides weren't as dated, and there was less to compare WDW to (e.g. Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure). Nowadays, with high prices for lower earning families, and a majority of attractions that haven't changed in 20 years, the first time experience may not be quite as magical as it would have been in the past. As a result, expectations - on all levels - are probably not being exceeded like they once were. Instead, families are generally getting what they expected. Disney performs all kinds of statistical surveys on these topics and will release some data, but keeps much of other data secret.
