MK is nothing but a bunch of random themes stuck togehter... be smart and pleasant. Those are the themes of a THEME PARK.

Actully it's not.

You start off in Adventureland, jungle, primitive civilisation, ect... Then move into Frontierland, a step up the ladder, and then finally into Liberty Square from Frontierland, the forming of the US, the Hall of Presidents ect...

Then behind the castle is Fantsyland, what else would be there, lol.

Then on the right side of the park is Tomorrowland, the land of Tomorrow, so from starting off in Adventureland, you have moved all the way to the land of the future.

Universal is a park for the teen-30somethings

Ill take that as a compliment to my youthfull complexion.

Universal is excellent, I love the Express access resort guests get, the hotels are every bit good as Disney. IOA is as well themed as the Magic Kingdom, if not better, and USF is marginaly ahead of MGM, but that is down to lack of proper attractions.

But getting back to Jaws, if you get a crap captain on the boat the ride is utter pants! IMHO of course.

3.last i knew Disney did have pet friendly rooms, and you could drop your pet off on the way to a park, at the ticketing center.
Mickeyman101

Where?

We like Universal and Seaworld but I love Disney however I wish they had a few things that the others have.
1. Flex Pay for annual passes both Universal and Seaworld have them.
2. Pet Friendly Rooms
3. The all day cup with free re-fills and/or reduced price refills in park not just at the hotel.
4. They also have a larger discount on food and merch purchases for annual pass holders.(I feel it is anyway)

Whats better about Disney

Absolutely Positively Everything Else!!!!!!!!!:sohappy:

Aerosmith isn't an "80's hair band" they came out in the early to mid 70's. you want an 80's hair band, try quiet riot. ;)

Universal is nice distraction for me, now and then. IOA, i'm glad i did it in sept. 2001 (literally the week after the attacks) because there were no lines whatsoever. any other day it would have been long lines, long waits and not worth my time (except for spider-man).

Can't we all just get along?

Some people prefer the classics of Disney (Small World, Peter Pan...) more than the adventure rides of Universal (Jaws, Spiderman...) but that's just them... Universal is a park for the teen-30somethings where as Disney is a park for the 'family'... Disney does have more replay value as it is more of an atmosphere park than an amusement park, but c'mon and give Universal some credit... they're trying to battle it out with the king of theme parks... Disney had a 35 year head start on this whole thing (talking about Disneyland vs Universal's birth)... Universal is still young and has changed owners a few times which causes a lot of trouble when you try to get things done... I'll say one thing though, Universal sure does know how to throw one hell of a halloween event :p
Absolutely. Very nicely put. I only have a few beefs with Universal that I'd love to see taken care of. And not because I don't like them--quite the opposite. I like to see them do well, because good friendly competition breeds better product all around (and I say friendly for a reason, folks).

For instance, Universal tends to have a bit of wasted space that they don't do anything with, such as the old boat docks in Islands and the New York alleyways in the Studios. Not that Disney doesn't have any wasted space, but they usually don't let you see it and wonder "Hey, why isn't anything there?"

Another example: Doctor Doom's Fear Fall. Holy crap, I hate that one. People complain about over-hyped rides? Eesh. You shoot up the tower ONCE, then bounce slowly back down. I waited in line for this?

Oh yeah, and the Dudley Do-Right animatronics suck. Sorry.

Again, not that I dislike Universal in any way--heck, I work there during Halloween. I just look at stuff like that and think "You can do better than this." That's all.

I don't really see how that web page is "attacking" Disney. Have they stated anything that is untrue?

Universal ROCKS!!! My brother and I are taking a trip to Orlando in about 2 weeks and we'll be staying at the Hard Rock. I love that they offer the express pass for hotel guests. This, to me, is a very cool perk. In addition, I love the fact that you can walk from the hotel to the parks and it takes like 5minutes. You don't have to hassle with a boat, monorail or bus system...all of which are terribly inefficient in my opinion.

I'd consider some of their statements stretched to say the least.

They say that kids are an extra $56 per child per day, this price would go down with the new Magic Your Way system.

Two of the movies listed in "Yesterday's Classic Fairytales" aren't even really fairy tales in my opinion. I wouldn't exactly consider Monsters Inc. classic either.

The roller coasters section is basically equal, and they consider Pteradon Flyers a roller coaster. You can't even get on the ride if you aren't with somebody short enough.

Their thrilling rides section looks far longer than Disney's, but this is only because they have multiple rides with ridiculously long names taking up multiple lines of text. When it comes down to it, it is balanced with 7 each.

Wet and Wild is far off property, while Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are both onsite.

Far off property? It's within eyeshot of the resort. And is in actuality closer than Blizzard Beach is to some of the other resorts.

I guess I've just forgotten how close it is. It's been a while since I've been to Wet and Wild, and I've only been to Universal Orlando once since the year 2000.

Comparing Universal to Disney is like comparing apples to oranges. They are two totally different experiences. Disney has the "magic" that has been built up by fairytale movies and cartoons over 50 years. Universal has the action packed movies that they base their rides off of, which may not give it the magical feel that Disney has. Lets face it, the image and atmosphere of Disney is great. Universal has a great atmosphere to, I feel in every land it really makes you feel that you are where you are. Go into Jurassic Park and you can feel it. Not that you can't in Disney. But the two atmospheres are different.

The pricing comparison isn't being misleading. They're simply comparing their base price to Disney's. Anyone could argue there's a way to get the price cheaper. Just because Disney happens to have a program that might lower the unit cost of that ticket, that doesn't make Universal's comparison untrue or even a stretch.

I agree with you about Monsters, Inc., but I think all of the others they listed really kind of makes you stop and realize that Disney is milking the old stuff for all it's worth.

Pteradon Flyers is certainly no less of a roller coaster than Barnstormer, which Disney lists as a roller coaster and which Universal gave them credit for...I think Universal was being GENEROUS toward Disney on that one!

Let me get this straight....You're suggesting Universal's ride names are intentionally long just so they will take up more lines of text and therefore fool people into thinking they're reading more names than they are?? :brick:

As far as Wet and Wild is concerned, it certainly is a lot closer to any of Universal's resorts than Grand Floridian, Polynesian or Contemporary are to Disney's two water parks.

I think there's an obvious reason for the "stretching" Universal does in their Disney comparison. According to Orlando's CBS affiliate, Disney's 2005 attendence was up more than 4% from the year before and Universal's attendence was down about 10% from the year before. It's the same thing that political candidates do when they are losing ground in polls--go negative by stretching the truth.

I could see why they'd want to attack Disney. Every year I go to Disney, I end up going to Universal for a few nights and stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. I mainly do this cause I love Margaritaville and NBA city and Hard Rock Cafe and its fun to relax in their pool with the underwater speaker system. The worst thing to me is I end up spending a TOTAL of about half a day at the parks combined. There just isn't that much to do there. I do like some of their rides, but after the thirty-something time in a row on the Mummy or Spiderman, I start to get bored... The great perk, as mentioned above, is getting to go to the front (more or less) of the line with Universal Express that you get free with your room key. That's really cool... but nothing that puts them in the same ballpark as Disney. All in All, I spend most of my time at the theater on the CityWalk.

I have a question about the acctual orginal post subject!!!!!

I went to Universal last march (March 2005) and went on Jaws. Was that the new version I was on or the old one????

The new version was openned in 1993 I believe... there's videos online of the original... the big differences were this...

When you come out of the boat house, instead of JAWS coming up on the side of the boat, he actually 'bites' the boat and spins you around in a 360 while still biting the boat... then at the end instead of being electricuted he was blown up into a bunch of tiny bits in an underwater explosion complete with red water and chunky bits... I'll try and find the video on my computer and put it on a server...
