Just wondering if anyone could tell me what its like in January at DW. I'm wondering about the crowds, if there are any events, and what the parks themselves and the weather is like during this time. Basically any info on the subject of Jan. in Dw. Thanks!

We were in WDW from Jan 10-15 in 2008. It was cold then too (though not the record stuff). We're northerners and we were uncomfortably cold for the later half of the week.

The crowds were so light that every ride was a walk on. We were actually hoping for some lines at some points because we were being so rushed through the queues and were tired from constantly walking from ride to ride. Also, be prepared for lots of closures & rehabs.

Overall, I'd go again, but pack warm clothes and don't be disappointed if you don't get to swim!

We'll be there from Jan 3-10th in 2011, so its good to hear that crowds are much lighter, even with the marathon. We've been during Spring Break weeks in March, so anything less than that is "light" crowds as far as we are concerned.

I know the marathon starts early in the morning and goes through MK first, so do the last runners usually get through before they open the park to other guests?
