Country Bear Jamboree

Jan 5th to Jan 10th for return to regular show. Note that it usually only takes 3 days to do this, so look for an early reopening, late week sometime. The CBJ is staffed to open as soon as its ready. My guess is thursday the 9th.

Polynesian Luau

Jan 7th to Feb 28th. Note this is a show change and a rehab of the building.

Beach Club - Shipwreck Slide

Jan 3rd to April 4th. Note, they will be providing shutle service to the Bordwalks waterslide. Opionion....seems like a long rehab for just a waterslide. Could be major changes or just WDW trying to save a few bucks during the winter months on lifeguards.

Port Orleans Riverside - Ol'Man Island area

Rehab from Jan 6th to Feb 8th

Studios - Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Jan 6th to March 1st

Blizard Beach

Dec 29th to March 1st Note, anuall rehab

Possiblities this year or next....

Body Wars- show change?
Big Thunder Mountain- general rehab/cleaning
Rivers of America/Tom Sawers Island/Riverboat general rehab
Alein Encounter - show change?
China - new movie
Space Mountain - you all know that those air gates have to go in there to sometime, and with the current big thing now on safety, its just a matter of time

air gates are those gates that they have in the loading area that keep you in your little holding area till the vehical stops. They work on the principle of air pressure, so that when they are closing, and some one is in the way, they stop and or reopen WITHOUT hurting the guest.

Recent Attractions that have had the gates installed include

Big Thunder Mountian
Splash Mountain
Norway

im sorry but i know there are many more, someone help me out here.....

not a stupid question BTW....sorry for the confussion

This is how I know I've been away from the "World" too long ....

I had no idea about the air-gates - I just always listened to the CM's and stayed back when they told me to :)

Air Gates are good and bad.

Not all Guest are as smart as you, and wait behind the yellow lines. when the guests cross, you told them once to move back, if they didnt right away, you hit a station stop. Now that doesnt break down the ride, but on thunder it can under certain conditions, and at some rides, it can temp stop the entire ride, witch is always bad show.

Also the gates can slightly slow done loading. Why? its complacated but trust me, after gates are installed, the Guests per hour goes down slightly. But in the intrust of safety, they are VERY good.

It's a shame that some folks just don't listen...

When I'm at WDW, I'm so d*** happy to be there that I do pretty much anything the CM's say!

Of course I've been there to see other guests be less considerate, so I see the necessity of installing gates to help protect them (since they won't watch out for themselves! :animwink: )

whats really funny about that is that wile the gates OPEN automatically, it takes a CM to CLOSE them, the dispatcher was having some fun there.

just think what would happen if a guest fell into the path of a 7 ton BTM train. In the intrest of Safety, they really are worth the slowdown in loading = longer lines.

it was alot of responsibility for the CM's to be looking at 30 people at once.

Glad to be working with gates then without.

Its just a matter of time before a little kid jumps infront of moving car/log/boat/train/whatever.

I hear what you're saying, but I still think that it's sad that it's come to this...:(

Don't people bother to watch out for their children anymore, even if they won't watch out for themselves? :veryconfu

I'm troubled now...

your soooo right, i keep seeing signs of wdw trying to overprotect everyone in every event. it is getting out of hand.

good example.....

the other night, a guest and his familly was sitting on a 12 foot high wall near Splash Mtn, when he was asked by a CM to get down, he said "If you dont want people sitting here, then there should be a sign'' our response was, common since tells you that a 12 foot high wall is no place to have your kids playing on/sitting on. Of course we couldnt say that to him. :)

That's exactly my point! I knew we'd end up being on the same page about this! :sohappy:

It's sad to me that Disney is having to go to so much trouble to protect themselves from the lawsuit that will eventually occur because people are too silly to protect themselves...

Wouldn't Space Mountain be a little hard to instal safety gates on? I mean, the trains are constantly dispatching, and it's only one rider per row. Wouldn't that be a big old wasteless mess?

But, I guess to protect the money and the azz's from having law- suit shoved up em' they need to.:hammer:
