Going to try to book a trip for Jan 4-10 2015. I've never been to WDW in Jan so just wondering if anyone knows how crowded it will be, how hard it will be to make dinner reservations, and if they will have a lot of ride closures. Any help is appreciated so thanks!!

January 4 will be the end to the holiday craze so a lot of people will be departing if not already. You may also catch a few days of the holiday decorations at least at MK (especially the castle lights) - I think they are usually up until the 7th or 8th. In terms of crowds - it will be medium to low. Historically, January has been a low crowd time but in recent years that has changed dramatically. This is because of the South American tour groups - they are literally in the hundreds throughout the month. Would it affect you? Possibly as they are irritating but if you work against the tour groups waits can be very low. This past January I was able to complete all the parks with minimal waits - though many attractions are not walk on as they used to be in January. Splash Mountain will go offline (as well as one of the water parks) sometime in January. But that is the only major ride that I know is anually closed in January. Dining reservations will be hard regardless just plan early and call asap. Weather is perfect - normally in the 60s to 80s. Though, if there is a cold snap - it can be in the 20s (which was the case in 2009) but that is usually unlikely.

Thanks! And I'm fine with the huge tour groups. I'm used to them from all the summer trips I've been on. At first they can be annoying(especially when they stand in the middle of a walkway blocking where your going) but then I try to remember that one they are in a foreign country and likely dont speak the language, and also that WDW is "The Happiest Place On Earth" and I need not to worry about it and be happy. Lol but thanks for the help. I think ill stick with those dates especially since Jan 5th is my birthday

Absolutely - January is a beautiful time to go. And if you can catch the last few days of the holiday decorations that is a bonus.

We were there this past Jan and loved it. The crowd levels were great - the only downside was the weather, but that's not controllable. We wore sweatshirts with fleeces and it was still chilly at times. We did get a couple days of sun, and that warmed things up a bit.

Definitely a great time to go!! Enjoy!!
