Plus most people that throw their kids up are ready to catch them and are using 2 hands. Wacko was using 1 arm and wouldn't have had a chance to catch him.

Plus...a kid that gets thrown in the air as an infant will have a much higher risk of having a fear of heights... :lookaroun
(is this relevant at ALL? )

Get this...I don't know if you remember a video game system called "ODYSSEY" but my dad had just bought it and the football game for it and was playing against my uncle...now...the only reason he bought it was because my mom went out  (kinda like your situation Gary) Now...he got it all hooked up and they were laying on the bed playing the video game...I was at the other end of the bed (they put me in the box to the system) and my dad got a touchdown...and KICKED the box by accident...sending ME FLYING OFF THE BED! (luckily I didn't turn out to be a freak or anything :lookaroun )

Don't get me wrong, I think Michael Jackson has become the strangest of the strange, but he has written some truly beautiful music. I can't imagine what kind of father he is - I certainly don't know and don't have any right to speculate - but I do believe that he is the way he is because his own childhood was so bizarre. Growing up in the public eye, performing almost all the time, has got to have a damaging effect on a kid. I'm not implying that his upbringing excuses outrageous behavior, any more than I think Eminem's childhood should allow him to freely spew hate (OK, let's not go there again), but I think he was a really, really unhappy kid who grew into a really, really unhappy adult.

Well said Figmentmom! :sohappy:

You also have to remember...the whole thing with his voice staying so high pitched...his parents probably scared him in some way or forced him in some way to keep his voice high (because he was the main attraction for the Jackson 5) Plus...I do believe him about his skin disease, my mom's a nurse and one of her patients had the same disease. But, he did have a messed up family life and childhood so I guess it can explain some things...but there is no way that he should be allowed to keep those kids if he can't even control himself.

AHA!!! Look at us coming down hard on the misunderstood Michael Jackson...

Ok, it was all the baby's doing!!!

Ok, think about it...he was ashamed to have Jacko as his dad...that's why he covered his face in public...and then he just couldn't take any more of it...so he decided to try and JUMP!!!

Jacko is a hero for saving his life!

I don't want to sound like Mr. Poopy Pants, but whether you think Jacko is "the most influential artist of the century" (I happen to think Elvis and/or the Beatles might have had a tad more influence), is irrelevant.

This is a man with obvious problems who seriously endangered the life of an infant by dangling him out the window of that hotel. How many of us would still be holding on to that kid if we did that on TV?

Of course, I don't know him personally, so it's possible he has a reasonable explanation for such bizarre behaviour...

Agreed, but Eminem is not putting people (especially children) in physical danger. Jacko can do whatever he wants to himself (including collapsing his nose, and all the other weird stuff), and I agree, it's due at least partially to his upbringing.

But he crosses the line and that excuse is no longer acceptable when his reckless behavior endangers people, especially children. Dangling a child over a balcony, or the sickening alleged activities a few years back(which we won't go into here) crosses the line.

I COMPLETELY agree!! Now even I was a Jackson fan back in the day (a little after Thriller) but i don't think he is the most influential artist of the century...not by a long shot! sure, he's had some good songs, and some even better videos, but has he had a great impact on MY life? no. The Beatles, however, yes. but as Gary stated, it has no relevance at all to this situation. Had Paul McCartney done this with his kid, i would've felt the same way. Jackson has done some pretty strange things in his life, but this just crosses the line! dangling an infant by one arm over a balcony 4 or 5 stories high is any parents' nightmare! normally parents make sure their child is no where near the balcony for the child's safety...they don't purposely take the kid to the balcony and hold him/her over it! that's insane!

yeah, the guy probably had a messed up childhood (which, to me is evident by his personal amusement park) but that is absolutely no excuse for what he did. and personally, i find it completely selfish....was he even thinking of the child's safety? beyond that, was he even thinking of what he was doing to his kid's future? if he sends the kid to a public, or even a private school, the other kids will be constantly asking and reminding him that his dad hung him over a balcony.

as for an explination...he didn't have one. all he said was that he made a terrible mistake (duh :hammer:) and that he just got caught up in the moment and all the excitement going on outside his hotel room...or something to that nature. so what?! you go out there, you jump around and yell some, maybe even moon them...but you don't get your kid and dangle him by one arm over a 4 or 5 storie balcony...you just can't do stuff like that.

but this issue has NOTHING to do with his musical talents...which, btw, i think he's losing. maybe i'm wrong, i dunno...but to me, his voice just seemed a lot stronger and seemed to pack a lot more 'punch' back in the days of Thriller. though, i must say, i really liked his Earth Song.

It's a real shame that people can't see past his face and the ridiculous tabloid crap and realize what a great man Michael Jackson is.

His is, by far, the most influential figure in music overall in the past century, AND has given to others much more than he has taken, especially to children. This stupid thing about him "dangling" his child off of a balcony is so stupid it's pathetic. If you've seen the video you'd realize he was doing nothing wrong.

I totally agree with you!!!

I love his music, and it makes me sick when people say "how can you listen to his music...he's a freak"

Has no one heard of "don't judge a book by its cover"?

Michael Jackson loves children, and during his long career has helped charities, and tried to make the world a better place.

helping charities does not in any way make anyone a GOOD person as we see so often in the press .

yes we are being a bit judgemental ......so what he gets paid enough

sorry i was a bit snotty in that reply .
Its just that so many people claim to love children ....and look what they do to them .......loving something is not all you need to take care of another human being.

After you have picked a few damaged children up off the ground you will get the picture and why this sometimes makes me mad ....:hammer:
