I guarantee that the new SW sequel will not see theaters until 2016. It will be pushed back.
That wouldn't shock me one bit. A production of this scale (hopefully) would seem to need to be further along in its production for a 2015 release. Now that they have announced the director, maybe we will start to see more information very quickly. They could have a lot already done that we just don't know about.

What do you base that on?

Disney just paid $4 billion for a production company that didn't have any movies in the pipeline, they are going to want to get this out as soon as possible to start earning money from that acquisition.

I think it'll all depend on how much Lucasfilm already had "baked" for this thing. It seems like not much more than some high-level story treatments, since they had to make separate announcements on screenwriter and director. I really do hope they dont have to try and shove all of this in by the arbitrary timeline set by Disney and make it a lesser movie.
