I hope he doesn't make it too much his own!!! Loved the new Star Trek as a stand alone movie but it lost something in translation!!!! One thing I was impressed with is Chris Pine is as big a ham as Shatner!

Mixed emotions on this. On the one hand he seems like the natural choice. On the other. He is the complete wrong choice because of his involvement with Star Trek, which he has completely made his own.

I liked the last ST movie, and am looking forward to the new one. He seems to "get it" in terms of both the franchise and the genre. To me, not a bad choice....

JJ would be at the top of my list to pick. I love what he did with Star Trek. And I'm one of those diehard don't mess with the continuity guys. However, at some point you have to realize that the movies or shows (Star Trek and Star Wars) that we grew up with can never be remade or replaced. New people will make changes and do some of their own thing. As long as its done well it doesn't bother me.

It is hard to argue with the good job JJ did with Star Trek. I like to think he will handle the Star Wars franchise in the same manner. All I ask is for no lens flares.
Exactly, that's the main reason he was on the top of my list. I remember leaving star trek saying "Man that's how you reboot a franchise. How cool would it be for him to work on a star wars movie" For me this adds a few more notches in my excitement level. Now we just need the announcement trailer!
