It's time for a shake-down

I hate to burst your bubble, but Jobs Trust and Lucas combined only hold about 10% of DIS stock. The top 3 institutional holders combined exceed them. Vanguard still exceeds Lucas. Any movement could be championed by one or both of these people, but they would need significant backing from traditional Wall Street investors to do anything. Wall Street loves DIS and it's huge returns right now. No shot they turn their backs on Iger and the gains he has brought them at least not any time soon.

As far as Jack Dorsey is concerned I know nothing about him personally. Has he ever been to a Disney theme park? Does he have some special passion for WDW or DLR that in some way is expected to help move projects there? Obviously he is a successful business man and can certainly help TWDC make better decisions about technology (especially web based technology) where they are in desperate need of help, but on the face I don't see him being a champion for the parks. However, if there is something about him that I don't know I would love to be educated and proven wrong;).

He's a tech guy founder of one of the most popular microblogging apps today, He was probably brought on board because of Disney's floundering IT systems and strategy of which NextGen was simply the most visible example which went way over budget and significantly under-delivered on it's promised benefits.

I would not want to be in TODAY'S TWDC IT organization, I expect it will be completely overhauled

I hope the IT organization is overhauled though. In today's age their park sites are slow on any connection.

Let's hope so. I'm not pulling for people to lose their jobs, but they really, really need an overhaul. It makes perfect sense that he was brought in to help with IT problems. @PeterAlt implied in his post that Jack Dorsey was the start of the shake-down. I could see that being possible from an IT standpoint, but outside of MM+ I don't see him having an impact on the parks.

The only impact I could see him driving beyond the MM+ and IT aspect is the rail usage at the parks. It is noted that Jack Dorsey is a rail buff. Question is will he do anything about it in his position. The answer is probably no.

Forget regular trains, the biggest question is how does he feel about monorails:cool:

This is a good question, but I remember watching a interview with him where he admitted he had a rail obsession so I would take that as a sign that he has happy feelings for them, Though I would take a rapid rail system for the parks.

Leadership needs to be purged and it's not the fault of the line level guys but I think Jack's job will be to instill a entirely new IT culture at TWDC, I can see him being more on the creative side as IT at it's core IS a creative business.

I don't see him with any real role at the parks, I suspect the next new board member will probably have extensive hospitality experience.

Do a little research on him. You'll be surprised what you find. Think of Disney's BOD as like a clique. Dorsey is that awkward outsider that is forced to sit at that lunch table with kids that won't talk to him and refuse to be his friend and let him into their group, even when forced to allow him to sit with them.

The entire company are board member responsibilities. They don't divide it up and say "I'll handle IT, you handle parks and attractions."

Having sat on the board of a few non-profit's you will find that the board does it's work via comittee, The ENTIRE BOARD votes on the actions decided upon by the comittee but this allows the specialists on the board to utilize their expertise. It's a mistake the think of a board as a monolithic entity.
