That... but I think the main reason is that Universal didnt really make a big deal out of it like Disney did with Toad. Universal let it die quietly which is a real shame IMO.

I would assume you meant Disney let Toad die quietly.... Disney made no deal at all of Toad's closing. Universal made Kong's closing a big bash!

Most people didn't even know that it was even Toad's last day. Sure it was in the paper, but there was no indication of it at the park itself (from what I've heard, I was not there)

Tonight Universal closed Kong with a bang! It announced the event, not only to the media, but to the annual passholders, invited them to come and say good-bye, and had signage all over the park that it was the final day.

Annual passholders even left with a free Kong gift

I'm not an AP and if I was I wouldve been there. The thing is is that no body I talked to except maybe a couple of people who were at Rock the Universe even knew about the closing. They had no signage up for it prior to the 8th which stinks in my opinion. If they had more people might have gone it before the 8th. All Heck broke lose when Toad died... and I wanted to see even more of a stink be caused with Kong being that it was park's trademark for 12 years. When I think of Universal I think of Kong. I wanted others to have did all those protest and everything that (from what I have heard) happened with Toad. I know just as well as anybody it wouldn't have done any good, but I wish a statement had been made.

It doesn't matter now though.......

I hope they at least keep the photo Kong.
