It's gonna make you think

Strangely I don't see as much wild life as there should be in WDW. I have seen lizards but at home I see lizards everywhere same with bugs, there is very little bug activity for being in a swamp in central FL. I really am surprised by the lack of alligators, where I live alligators are in any body of fresh water unless you do something to get rid of them. Snakes as well, seems like there should be more run ins with snakes????

Just seems odd to me because there should be a big population of those animals and bugs at WDW..
I think most of the area is safe because it's gated off, but I know the golf courses have them occasionally!

I know Bay Lake is pretty famous for Alligator sightings, as well as that "river" between POR and DTD : )

(no idea the accuracy/honesty behind those sightings, but from what Im aware, most of the fencing keeps the parks pretty free/clear)

So I just got back from WDW a couple hours ago and survived the crowds at all 4 parks. My father-in-law posed a question for me- have you ever seen a lizard in the theme parks. Now I've never really paid attention, and being a passholder that only lives 40 minutes away, we go quite often. But as I looked around this weekend I realized he was right. Not once did I see a lizard. Not on the rocks at thunder mountain, not climbing the trees in animal kingdom. So next time you are in the parks-look around. You may be surprised.

I've seen many. Japan in Epcot back in 2008, and on tot at night, if you look up right before you enter the lobby where that big chandelier is, there is usually a lot of lizards there. Ewww, I can't stand them!

I once saw a big slug after it rained. He was kinda cute and I even took a picture of him, but lizards no. I have wondered why I've never seen any flies or mosquitoes, not that I missed them.

no lizards in the park for us.......but a 3-4 foot long snake in front of Dinosaur one time. big crowd around watching him, right on the cement path into the ride. amazing how oblivious folks are, with a big crowd all staring and pointing.....other folks just walk right toward it, darn near step on it. seems like we all took turns staying with the poor guy to keep him from getting squished until he made it over to the vegetation on the other side. Look where you're going folks!

We were at EPCOT going through the Oz garden and saw a little rabbit! I was quite surprised, but it seems there is some actual wildlife still around WDW.

I've seen those lizards somewhere in every park. Usually around the hedges or just off the walkways. I also remember in the past viewing one of the photos posted by someone here on this site, of a lizard photographed in the railroad scene at Germany looking like it was Godzilla.:D

Nature nut here...so here are our Reptilian encounters over the years...

We have seen both the Green Anole and the Bahama Anoles in all the parks and resorts. We have also seen a couple Five-lined Skinks at AKL and a Broad-headed Skink at OKW. We have also seen gators in many waterways throughout many resorts and all of WDW(including the parks). We've had 3 encounters with snakes, one at Blizzard Beach, crossing a sidewalk in front of us... Rat snake I think. Other was at FW near the bank by the docks... Water snake there. However, we did find what I beleive was a Water Moccassin in the waterway to MGM, on side of Boardwalk... in the grass on edge of water(while we were in one of those racer boats). Lastly, while staying at OKW, maybe 7-8 years ago, we came back from parks one night and many turtles(I'd say probably 40 or 50) were crossing the roads on the short drive to our room.

Best mammal sightings at WDW were Armadillos at FW and last year a River Otter frolicking in the lake at DTD(right near the shore by the Lego Serpent/Dragon). And don't get me started with the birds!

OK... Wild Kingdom at WDW is over for tonight!:p :)

when we went in October we did not see one squirrel in 4 days! I thought it was a sign of the apocalypse- but this past weekend we saw a whole bunch- thank goodness :D
