Woooooo Hoooo. Another Update! This is not just any update, this is the "CHILI DOG" update. The first ever ISTCrew Update that has been nicknamed. You'll find out about the Chili Dog a little later. So lets get started:

by the way, I did get to experience Stitch's Great Escape...twice!

Animal Kingdom Updates

~The Lift Hill is indeed up on Everest:
SVI_6464.jpg

~The Boneyard in Dinoland USA has reopened from it's rehab.

~The billboard in Dinorama that was partly destroyed by the hurricanes have been completely fixed.

~It looks like they are starting to seal the cracks in the huge orange dinosaur is DinoRama.

~The carnival game "Dino-Whamma" in Dino-Rama (the hammer/bell game) was closed today, and it has been closed everytime I was at AK for the last few months.

Magic Kingdom News

~Like I said earlier, Stitch's Great Escape was open to the public today. I walked into Tomorrowland and noticed people in the queue. The stated queue time was 60 minutes. I jumped right into the line. Without giving away major spoilers (but there will still be some!) I'll give you the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Good
*Let me just start off by saying, I enjoyed SGE more than I did Alien Encounter. The re-rideability is much higher than it was on Alien Encounter.
*I loved both of the preshows just as much as I did the actual attraction. They were very funny, and had the whole crowd cracking up multiple times.
--The first preshow was very short. The preshow room was really well themed. Alien writing was all over the place, and a HUGE "Galactic Federation" logo is in the center of the back wall. Little details are everywhere, and make sure you check out the brandnames of the tv's that air the preshow video.
SVI_6480.jpg

--The second preshow was awesome. The former SIR is now Sarge (if I remember correctly...and don't forget his galaxy number : 90210 lol). Skippy is there, but in the opposite tube he was in for Alien Encounter. The 2 tubes are for "level 1 prisoners and level 2 prisoners". That photo of the really ugly AA was the galaxy jelly doughnut stealer, and Skippy was captured for jaywalking in-between planets. Just as Sarge is explaining that he never gets any "level 2 prisoners", Gantu barges in with a LEVEL 3 prisoner, Stitch. The actual attraction tube is meant to be the level 3 holding area. When Sarge learns a level 3 is on the way, he "oils" himself.
--I thought the dialogue in the attraction was hilarious. Such as when Pleakly says "Every seat provides a great viewing opportunity...except for mine, I CAN'T SEE A THING!!!". The part that I found funniest in the whole attraction was during the actual show. Stitch steals a chili dog from a guest, and the guest, a loud mouthed country woman says "HEY, THAT'S MY CHILI DOG...GIMME BACK MY CHILI DOG". (hence the nickname for tonights update).

the bad
*The only thing that I thought they could of done better on was the preshow animations. You can tell it was done by the television animation division.

the ugly
*I waited in the queue when the stand-by sign said 60 minutes (it was more like 25). The problem with this is: Fastpass was not even running, and the line was almost coming out of the standby entrance. The queue line is extremely small, only able to hold maybe 700 people. Unlike Alien Encounter (where you went back and forth under the TTA) for Stitch, and line goes directly to the back. Does a few switchbacks, and then goes back around to the preshow doors. It is a very small area, and come the busy seasons, the entrance to Tomorrowland is going to be a mess. With fastpass, the standby line will move even slower. However, the second chamber should speed things along a bit.
here are some queue pics

Some of the seats in SGE were broken, and the covers on them were still the old XS tech covers."This seat has been Seized".

~Not sure if it has always been there, but a stroller parking area was set up outside of Merchant of Venus.

~A small area by the entrance of Starlight cafe had a construction wall up around it.

~All soda in the MK is back down to $2.00 (Taken down from $2.50)

~The spitting camel in front of the Magic Carpets of Aladdin was not spitting or moving at all today.

Disney/MGM News

~Nothing really new here. Just some advertisements for "Lost", "National Treasure", and all the kind of stuff were added to the back of the Stunt Show stadium.

~Half of the MGM ticket windows and entranceways are blocked off by construction walls.

~I have no idea if it is new, but I don't ever remember hearing a pre-recorded safety speil on the backlot tour.

Epcot news

~I'm not sure how long it has been on there, but "Future site of Soarin" has been added to the map.

~A few props from the TT queue (like the neck callobration test head) were gone.

~Motion Sickness bags are still being used on MS, but the motion sickness bags recording is no longer being used.

~I finally got to ride the new DreamChasers. I prefer it much better over the old version, since this one has a better story and is 3D.

And that's it for today. I leave you with this picture from SGE:

I had that same worry when I saw some eariler pics. If you remember during the first 3 years or so of AE, the line was full most of the day. Imagine what it will be like with all the kids in line now. Hopefully FP might actually help out here.

Fair enough. I can take it.......

Just kidding. I remember you being a big Stitch fan, so it makes sense. I didn't think the phrases you mentioned were all that funny, but I did like that sign you had at the end. I thought that was a really nice touch.

I guess the biggest thing this might have in common with AE is that they both might end up being "love it or hate it" attractions. That certainly seems to be the case so far.

but when I walked into the chamber the first time, I felt like it was AE all over again.

That's why I won't be seeing it. I would probably cry as soon as I walked in.

Seriously though I am glad you liked SGE. Even though I must admit I do like hearing people say they liked AE better, I honestly DO want SGE to be worthwhile so AE wasn't replaced for nothing.

Hopefully they will keep the "Seat Has Been Seized Signs". Most people won't think anything of it, but it could be a great in-joke for WDW fans. Of course they aren't planning to have many seats down, but if a problem did come up I think they should keep that the same.

:brick: :brick: Darn! I must have just missed it cause I got to Magic Kingdom at around 5 or 6 pm today and hit Tomorrowland at about 7. Nothing was going on when I got there. :( I got there so late cause I was at the Food and Wine Festival for most of the day, I've never done it before, and enjoyed it a lot. It was a very cool set up, and the foods I tasted were all very good. It's great to hear that Stitch was good, I'm looking forward to getting onto it, hopefully I'll have more luck if I go again before the actual opening. Thanks for another great update Patrick! :sohappy:

I'll never understand the mentality of NOT wanting to visit a new attraction. Why does it matter what it replaced? Why do you have to like the character it is based on?

I want to try out every new attraction/show/ride and form an opinion on it based on my own feelings and experiences, NOT some pre-conceived notions & reviews that others post.

Sorry that just doesn't work for me. If you'll notice I'm not bashing it or complaining about it anymore. And I have no right to if I don't experience it myself. Why would I want to waste time at WDW, if it is something that I know I won't like? My time is much more valuable than that.

I'll watch a video of it WHEN it comes online (and yes it will sometime) and I'll watch it here at home. But, in person, no way.

Exactly. I am never, never going to set foot in SGE.

Look, let's think. Every time they get rid of something that was good, we all cry and moan. Then as soon as they announce it will become something with a cute cartoon character, or something THRILLING, we all jump for joy and forgoe what was lost. *Thats what happened to Horizons, World of Motion, Alien Encounter, Dreamflight, and such. Not on these forums, But I remember World of Motion closing. Everyone was moaning, until they announced Test Track. Then it was all just construction updates over and over and over. Horizons was the same way. Alien Encounter was my FAVORITE Tomorrowland attraction. And some stupid blubbering alien decides to boot it out. Smart one Disney.

Stitch in my opinion has no LASTING power. I guarantee within a few years that attraction will be a complete flop, nobody in line. Stitch will not be around for that long, unless they make a new movie from him (I hope not!)

Notice that today we still moan about 20K Leagues or Skyway being closed -- BECAUSE THEY WERENT REPLACED.

I'm not trying to be harsh. But can anyone here prove me wrong about my "closed attraction" theory?

Very good review! Love the last picture!

I know everyone is going to hate me for this but...have you noticed any new merchandise replacing "Where Magic Lives"? They usually pull out their new theme in October.

Thanks!

Well "Magical Gatherings" started a year ago September as part of a 15+ month campaign. So i dont forsee any new campaigns starting until springtime and, heh, I'll let y'all be suprised with what they announce. (Damm non-disclosure agreements)

Let me guess, something to tie in with the 50th Annaversary of Disneyland?

You seem to have convinced yourself of a certain position (not liking the ride) without having all the information. If you choose to do that, that is your peragotive. :D

But I'll try anything at least 1 time to see if it is something I will enjoy. If I was smart enough to KNOW ahead of time what I'll love or hate, my life would be simpler & alot more boring. :animwink: :animwink: :animwink:

What other information do I need to know? This is just like someone not wanting to ride Mission Space because they are in fear of getting sick. I'm afraid seeing Stitch in that tube might make the throw up  . I'm exaggerating big time of course, but I don't see why it is such a big deal. Like I said eariler, if I thought I could get it a fair shot, I would see it. But I don't think I can do that. I feel like I have to keep saying that over and over again.

And for the record, I haven't been on Triceratop Spin or the Magic Carpets of Aladdin, so I guess I really don't know if they are off the shelf spinners or not. :D :D :D

BTW, I'm sorry I talked about it imagineer99. I was just replying back to someone.
