Whoo hoo...first Disney trip of the SUHMAHH!!! I got out of school yesterday, and I decided to hit the parks as the very first time for this summer break. I came back today with a rather big update so I hope you're sitting in air conditioning, and enjoy...
Hold on, I say air conditioning because I don't ever remember it being so hot. I been living in Florida for awhile, and I'm telling you, this past week had to have been one of the hottest in history. The heat just zaps you. The days seem so hot and so long. So anyway...here we go. I went to ALL FOUR parks today. We'll start at MK...
--Splash Mountain is in great shape. Sorry to say, the hopping Brer Rabbit it down again, and one of the jumping fish wasn't working, but other than that, everything worked right, even the sweeping rabbits!
--Everything in the first tunnel on the TTA was not turned on. The EPCOT Model, and the few alien scenes were dark.
--The Tomorrowland Indy Speedway seating area was still closed.
--The Stitch preshow doors were open, and junk was still all over the floor. You could also tell that they had just painted, because that whole side of Tomorrowland smelled like paint.
--The Tomorrowland dome was still not back on.
--Nothing has changed in the 20K area since last week.
--Ariel's Grotto was still under rehab.
After MK, I went to AK...
Nothing was really new here. I got a few pictures of the new entrance area. I went by Everest, and it seems like they are doing alot more work during the day now. I stood on the bridge for awhile and looked at the site. I noticed that 2 brake runs are built, one right before the drop out of the mountain, and one in the back. I noticed that under each one, a giant black thing stretched the entire length of the brakes. I think that will have something to do with the reversing of the trains.
Ok anyway, I left AK and went to Yacht Club and Beach Club to walk over to Epcot. When I got there, I wanted to see if I could walk down the hallway and look out a window to get pictures of Soarin'. I couldn't, but I sure did get lost. I think I ended up in the Villas and I had no idea where I was. I kept walking, kept walking, kept walking. I came to a building where they were doing painting and wood replacement. Scaffolding was all over the side, and wood and all the materials were all over the sidewalk. I hope someone reads this, and can do something about it, but the construction wall was left wide open. Since the doors were open, you couldn't read the signs that said it was a hard hat area or that construction personnel were the only people permitted. That is how accidents happen and if a little kid, or some lost tourists walked in there, there was no warning and someone could get hurt.
So I walked over to Epcot and before I went in the gate, I walked over to the CM only gate (which you can clearly see right over) to get a picture of Soarin'. I took my picture, and not even 2 minutes later, a security guard comes marching over. He asked me why I was taking a picture of the gate. I just told him that I wanted a picture of a building behind the gate. He just said "Ok then", and walked away. I got in the park, and here are the updates.
--The Soarin' construction wall inside The Land has been extended all the way out to the seating areas. It covers the old garden shop, and the old Food Rocks entrance. They have a rather big space blocked off.
--The "Lawsuit Land" playground is back this year for Flower and Garden. Last year, it was in World Showcase, but this year, it is in FW East, by the breezeway. The flooring they used for it was cool though. It was little chopped up blocks, and it was soft. I'll post a picture, because I'm sure I confused some of you.
--The MS Facade had a construction wall up around it again! That wall has been up three times since MS opened. I don't know if it's to paint the chipped walls, or to replace the plants, but for whatever reason, they gotta keep replacing it.
I left Epcot, and went over to MGM...
--A really cool popcorn cart was added by the Sorcerer Hat. It seems permanent, and the sides are made out of glass.
--All the seats in the "Studio Catering Co." restaurant have been removed. The food counters are closed, but they could of atleast left the tables. Right now, it's just a bunch of trash cans in a big empty space.
--The San Francisco Backdrop is almost done. The two towers on the side are almost done too. I never noticed it before, but the complete backdrop is illustrated on the map. The Golden Gate bridge will be added to it too.
--And for the biggest news of the day ... NEW UMBRELLAS WERE PUT IN THE BUS LOOP!!!
Anyways, that's todays update. Pictures will be up soon.
