Is XM or Sirius worth it?

I have XM... and I gotta say... you are gonna get a biased statement from me about it.

I played a part in getting The Instant Traffic and Weather channels actually going.. I was the guy who pitched this idea when I was working for "Traffic Pulse".

Right now, one of the projects I am working on is XM NavTraffic system, which will be going live in the new Acura this fall, and in the 05 Cadillac CTS soon after that. (More Vehicles and brands to come after that, but I cannot say due to confidentiality agreements).

Anywhoo...
I dunno... to me... it seems like XM is a more of a major player in the Satellite radio game. More money and venture capital... there number of subscribers are soaring every quarter. And the programming in general is much better.

But as I said, Dan, a Biased response here (hey...they are paying my bills).

My husband recently purchased a Chevy Avalanche and it came with the XM radio. I have to say that he really likes it. He is still exploring all the channels but has already found several that he enjoys. Our kids really like the fact that he can get RadioDisney. As a new subscriber, they offered a deal where he can get, I think, the first three months free. If this is available to you, this might be a way for you to try it before you have to start paying for it.:D

Yep, I have noticed that as well... I mean.. there is SOME tinny sound, ( I know on the Traffic and weather channels) But that’s from all the processing and compression from the uploading to the Satellite ...etc... its kinda normal... but it sounds much better than Sirius.. Even the music channels have a better compression ratio and sound less tinny on XM compared to Sirius.

I listened to the Traffic and weather channels on Sirius.. (a different company does this) OMG.. what garbage... the reports are all phoned into a central location.. and beamed up to the satellite... very cheap and unprofessional sounding.

I've had XM for over a year and couldn't be more pleased. I chose XM over Sirius because it had more mainstream channels like CNN. I have the receiver that lets me use it in the car (through the tape deck) or at work (through the home adaptor wired through the 'line in' jack on my computer).

The sound quality is excellent, and there's at least three stations for every type of music. I can't recommend XM enough.
