Hi

Some friends are hoping to travel to WDW next march and they have received this quote -

March 17th - March 22nd 2004

Total = $3,750

They have 3 children (5,15,13) and this price includes park admission for the duration of their stay.

Thanks for your help.

rediculous

that price is just rediculous. A week trip costing that much to stay? NO way. The resort is nice and so is the Grand Floridian but for that price it's not that nice. Just because something is nice does not mean it's worth anything you want to charge. I do not think that price is worth is. The only nice thing about it is the monorail access and you can see the Magic Kingdom fireworks. I would save the money and stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort where you can sit and watch the fireworks from epcot. See my site below for pictures of Illuminations from CBR. The view is awesome!

use the spare money for tons of spending within the parks, eat at the nicest restaraunts for every meal, buy tons of stuff and you'll enjoy your tip a lot more.

Does this include transportation? Are they coming from overseas...not sure about exchange rates, taxes, etc. Might be right, but I would check around for some discount codes though.

This is for a standard, Garden-View non-smoking room as part of the 'Dreammaker' standard package.

Your replies are really appreciated - thank-you!

Meega, nala kwishta!
Yea, that has to be full rack rates. Our AKL Concierge for a day longer this Octiber is less than that with the Silver add on!

Deffinatly want to get some codes or discounts applied to that stay. :animwink:

Actually this sounds like it is the rack rate for everything.

Your friends have two things working against them, they are staying at the second most expensive resort on the property and they are going at the second most expensive time of the year.

With the dream maker package, basically you're getting a room for 5 nights and 1 child and 4 adult ultimate park hopper passes. (anything over 9 is an adult as far as park tickets go)

Mid feb to end of April is peak season pricing. So the 2003 "off the rack" rate for a Polyneasean Garden room during peak season was $404 a night, not including sales and resort taxes (around 11%).

Not sure exactly what the ultimate park hopper ticket costs, but a 6 day park hopper plus adult is $277 and the child is $222.

That totals up to about $3350 before taxes. So the price your friends were quoted sounds right to me.

Mousesavers.com does tell you how to get discounts. But according to their historical information... discounts for stays in March aren't usually announced until January.

They also might want to change times or resorts. Wdwig.com has some great info on resort prices and seasons.

Hope it helps.

For someone overseas, they may not realize that the time they are choosing is in middle of Spring Break for some parts of the country. This causes the rates to go up substantially. My advice would be to book and place the deposit (it is refundable up to 45 days out) then keep looking for codes and other discount information. Just keep in mind, that like I said, this is a very busy time of year. You may or may not find anything to discount that package.

I don't know what sort of cancellation penalties you might incur, but if travel dates are flexible, I would seriously consider changing.

Like others have said, this is the busiest and second most expensive time to go. If you can wait until after Easter (April 11, 2004), the rates will go way down. This will also be the Flower and Garden Festival in Epcot (the stereotype here is that folks from the UK are a little "dotty" over gardens)

During peak season (President's Day until Easter) there are few discounts.

LOL Those dates are even more into the Heart of the American Spring Break Season!

The Peak Season at the Poly is considered to be Feb 13-April 26th so the rates that are Quoted above will still be correct.

Thanks

This year I went from April 21-27th. The parks during the day were mobbed. ToT and RnR were averaging a 70 minute wait, Test Track had a 90 minute wait, and a 45 minute wait for the Singles line (I have NEVER seen the singles line get this long)

So basically it will be moderately-extremely busy during that time period.

They can expect very high crowds that week. If they can, they shoudl consider moving the trip up a week. That would allow them to get the cheaper rates and not have to deal with the large crowds.

   YIKES!

For that kind of money we can easily take THREE trips to WDW at the right times and with the right discounts!!

If at all possible (unless money is no object) tell your friends to change their vacation dates to an "off-peak" time. Even if money is no object, they will have a MUCH more enjoyable time in the parks when they are not so crowded!

In fact, when we go in September, we are getting 3 rooms at the Wilderness Lodge for less than their one! The weather is more tolerable, and the crowds are lower, making for a more enjoyable (and memorable - for the RIGHT reasons) vacation!

All the tips offered here are good ones. Have your friend hit the message boards and ask more specific questions.

We're always glad to help others save cash on their rooms so they have more to spend on souvenirs and good dining!

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately they are tied to those dates, as here in England you really aren't allowed to take children (especially older children) away from school during term-time.

Apparently, if they arrive one day later then the rates will drop by around $65 dollars a night, so I think this is there next option to try!

Thanks again.

Also might want to consider a change in resorts...

For example, Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge will be about $100 a night cheaper than Polynesean, but still part of the "deluxe" resorts.

Drawbacks are no monorail and slightly smaller rooms, but if their children really like wild african animals, Animal Kingdom Lodge could be a great trade off for not riding the monorail into the park.

Moderate resorts would be even cheaper yet.
