Is there were no more Free Dining, are there restaurants you would stop dining at?

I don't use the DDP (free or otherwise). However, if it was gone, the subsiquent rise in restaurant quality would cause me to eat more.

If I was to ever use the DDP, there are quite a few restaruants that I would NEVER eat at using the DDP - namely just about every signature. If I am going from 1 credit to 2 credits (a 100% increase in price) I expect a 100% increase in value. I don't think any signature - at this point in time - is worth double the price (credits) of a regular table service.

The only two places we feel were worth paying OOP for were be Our Guest and San Angel Inn. If not for FD we wouldn't eat in the parks except maybe one or two days in the MK since it's such a long day. Even then it would simply be a CS meal from Cosmic Rays or Tortuga Tavern.

I would probably not spend money on character or buffet meals, as they are insanely expensive. But otherwise, I would still eat at my favorite places but order less. I would never or order dessert at many of the restaurants if it weren't included in the plan.

I would still eat at my favorites, but we wouldn't do as many TS meals. We also wouldn't buy as much food, like snacks. We would share CS meals. I love the concept of going on vacation and not having to watch how much the food is costing or trying to figure out if one chicken finger basket can feed 2 kids. I am willing to pay for the DDP, so free dining is a huge plus for me.

If they did away with Free Dining, do you think meal prices would go down? I would love to see a meal price chart showing before and after "Free Dining" took effect. Nothing is for free. I have a feeling that I am somehow subsidizing your free meal given the $150 to $200 tab our family of six racks up on every TS meal.

No, but I think if they did away with the dining plan altogether, the food quality might improve. I think without the pressure to make sure the meal is still profitable for the value of a dining credit reimbursement, the chefs would have more freedom in the ingredients they source.

I don't think it would make a difference to be honest. The restaurants I choose to dine/not dine at are based on reviews, feedback, menus and prices. The ones I choose to never dine a second time or dine again at are based on personal experience. Pretty simple for me. I've never used the DDP in my experiences but since I've dined at mostly QS places due to time and money constraints, I've never needed the DP per say. But if I were to dine at more TS places, I'll do the math myself and see if it makes sense financially.

No, I don't think so. Lowering prices is uncommon. :)

But they did raise the menu prices to make dining plans seem like a better deal. Selection (or maybe "variety" is a better word?) was reduced, as well.

I'm from the UK, and after reading the Unofficial Guide I tried pricing it all up separately to work out if it was cheaper to do it that way than to get a package. Mainly because of flights, it was far cheaper (over a third less) to get the package, which included the dining plan (though only the counter service plan as we were at a moderate).

If it hadn't come free, I wouldn't have added it on. We found it was way too much food.

If there was no dining plan, we wouldn't have had dessert with every meal, and most of the portion sizes we could have shared.

For me personally, it's less of a case of where wouldn't I eat, and more where would I eat. I would have tried far more snacks (funnel cake, dole whip, waffles etc) and probably tried a couple more table service meals, rather than always counter service.
