Is there any inexpensive way to get to USO from WDW?

yeh but i think it would of been included anywhere i think as i booked with thomas cook. What i did notice was the city cabs :lookaroun and the marriott wanting myself and mrs cmatt to use them and not wanting to book a yellow cab  soon sorted that out with persistant nagging

Only slip up i had was with the downtown disney pickup - which was entirely my fault for not listening :drevil: :hammer: the contract is wrong also  , unless the transfers is part of the package THEN you have to pay as normal at the conceirge desk.
Checker Cab, City Cab, Yellow Cab, and Safety Cab Co are all different faces of Mears ;)

Notice, they all have the exact same phone number on the side (well, in Osceola County it's a different number)

More then likely :p i was even in a mears min van where the driver handed sweeties to the cm's on the toll gate thingies! and told us about the site and ALOT of jokes. Also another one (alec i believe - who we had pick us up about 70% of the time from disney, who took time in telling us about the celebration town and other interesting facts about i drive :)
oh no... I've known people who have missed flights due to Mears :)

Ha! Really? Our drivers have been so bad I think one of the drivers was drunk or just seemed like it. Trusting them to get me to the airport on time and it not happening was a feelng I did not like...especially when I had no control over how it went.

To be fair im pretty sure one of them either had dodgy aftershave or just stank of alcohol!

i noticed that too.... but the marriott only wanted us to use city cabs. Obviouslly they frowned upon yellow cabs.... :lookaroun

I had a taxi, city cab, van and mears bus picked me up (bus was for busch gardens though - from the premium outlets) with regards to my booking - the city cabs were nice but seemed so extortionate to hire privately (i think they were saying 15% more then a normal cab price - which is already a rip off!)

With regards to the airport i always turn up 3 - 2 hours before the flight, then add the travelling time (30 mins in this case). Even if its an internal uk flight - because i normally go shopping in tax free for dvds :o. Mears turned up early and as everyone that was getting the van (me, the delectable mrs cmatt and another hotel guest) we left 10 mins before they were suppossed to turn up :sohappy: added a stressfree approach to a hectic final day!

It's not that easy... most Orlando hotels contracts are exclusive. They cannot call another taxi company without risking getting into some sort of trouble. Most hotels, if you insist on taking a different cab company, they will hand you a phone to call them with, or tell you to call them yourself. Politely of course.

Thanks for all the tips everyone...looks like we're going to try Mears, as cabs would be too expensive, car rental too inconvenient for only one day in the middle of our trip. Thanks again!

You know, you'd think Universal would do what they've done here in LA. There's a free bus that runs from Disneyland to Universal every day that Universal provides to anyone who has a ticket to their park because they've lost so much business since Disneyland became a destination resort. Seems like Universal Orlando would be wise to do the same thing since Magical Express has entered the picture.

it's not that easy... Disney has to OK them to do that, something I doubt they'll ever do :)

In California they coexist, here they're cutthroat competitors

The cheapest way is to take the Orlando city bus, Lynx. You can take it at the TTC and take it to Universal. I think it takes about an hour and several transfers, but it only costs around $1-$2.
