Is there any hope for veggies at WDW?

Hello

This is my first post and am hoping that a few of you can help with a dining dilemma we face every year we go to WDW & Universal.

When it comes to the number of restaurants we are truly spoilt for choice. However, being a vegetarian, I find it increasingly difficult to find somewhere even with a veggie option, never mind a choice! This means I end up eating cheese pizza or veggie burgers & fries for the entire 2 weeks - not pleasant! Even the restaurants on I-Drive are the same.

Does anyone else feel that neither WDW or Universal adequately cater for a vegetarian?
If anyone can recommend somewhere we can eat, we would be grateful.

I must also point out that we do not like the formality of the table service restaurants in WDW. Plus being from the UK, most of our hard earned cash goes into just getting there and so we find these places to be pretty expensive.
It is therefore mainly counter service we go for.

my wife is a vegetarian and it does take some planning. There is a page dedicated to this issue at www.allears.net.

If you do not do your planning you will eat a lot of pasta and mozzarella sticks.

Check out the menus before you go, and make sure you tell them when you make your reservation for any sit down meal. All table service restaurants offer some sort of veggie option, but if you don't like it they will be willing to work with you as best they can. Counter serve can be a bit more tricky since the food isn't individually prepared, but I am finding that places are offering a bit more than they used to.

Every full service restaurant can accommodate veggie requests to some degree. I love the Columbia Harbor House, with the counter serve corn next door and the garden grill at EPCOT. Disney has great veggies.

Pretty much every table service restaurant can accommodate you. In regards to the vegan options increasing....considering that only 1%-7% of the US population practice even a form of vegetarianism, I just do not see Disney changing much until the market share increases.

Since you don't like the Table service restaurants, here are my suggestions.
At the MK, I eat at Columbia Harbor House. The vegetarian chili and the Lighthouse sandwich are very good.
At Epcot, I eat at Sunshine Seasons, Morocco and Mexico Pavillion. The Empanadas de Queso in Mexico were fantastic.
At DHS, I usually end up with a cheese pizza or veggie burger.
At AK, I eat at a TS restaurant like Boma or Sanaa.

Here is a great list for you.
