My wife, made our reservations.. and we got 25% off of the value resorts.. she said that they knew of 'my pin'.. but I thought that my pin was worth a bit more.. there is no discounts for food or anything( we have never used the dining plan).. and then two.. are there problems at Pop century? for most, who used to post here, it used to be "home".. is that not the case now.. no ripping please.. and we are going mid month.. not exactly prime season.. I am open to any opinions and replies.. that are constructive and honest.. thanks for your help..

For your first question, it looks like that's a pretty good deal. Right now the offer to the general public is only 20% for Pop Century. I have received "pin codes" in the past which were the exact same as the offer for the general public. So, I'd consider yourself lucky to have received that extra 5%.

For your second question, I don't know the answer. I stayed at Pop in May, 2009. I thought it was nice. I saw a lot of people who treated it like "home" then, with decorating the windows and such. The only reason we decided not to go back was because our kids are so young and it was simply too far away from the parks for as often as we needed to go back to the hotel for nap time and relaxing and stuff with the little ones. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it.

We're staying at Pop this time... I went through the motions of booking online to see what the price would be, then I called to actually book and used my pin, turned out to be $49.50 in savings over 10 nights.

Personally for me, I would prefer one of the All Star's if I was going to go the value route for a stay. Usually the rates are a little cheaper than POP is so the discount is better. As for the amenities, they are pretty much the same, and there are usually less people at the All Star's than there are at POP. We had a bad experience at POP and I won't get into details, but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth as opposed to the two times we have stayed at an All Star (we prefer the Sports one) where we have had very good experiences. So with everything being equal, I would go the All Star route because you can probably save a little more money.

How do you get pins?
No one knows. Disney does not send them to everyone and there is no way to sign up for one. Some folks say they have received a pin code after visiting the Disney website and "saving" a vacation choice but not actually booking a trip. Never worked for me though.

I got one.. and wanted to use it ..but my Father passed away.. I called the Disney number and asked if they would send me another one.. it took a while, but they did.. years later, I got another one.. but the day i actually had made reservations, we had another death in the family.. I had to cancel, again.. and I am using the one they sent me , after this last situation.. usually if you are at the park.. and you see cast members doing questionnaires, DO IT.. and be sure to give your name and what ever they ask.. and drop a big hint.. like, hey , I would love it if you sent me a discount card.. but BE NICE.. ask once.. but BE NICE.. compliment where you can, and give positive criticism where is needed.. LIKE , we LIKE The price of the hot dog stand at MK, but there are not enough places that sell at that price.. or what ever.

I still love POP and will be going there again in Feb. I know there have been recent complaints about the food court, but I've honestly never found anything Wow about their food court to begin with.

One Little Spark...

I thought the hotel was fine when I stayed there. The food court was decent, but it pales in comparison to AoA right across the bridge. If you eat at the resort, go ahead and make the hike across the bridge and check that place out. Unique and excellent offerings, plus they have real plates and cutlery!

The only three complaints / regrets I had about the hotel during my stay were:

1) The wifi was terrible. However, this has been resolved, I suspect, with the infrastructure they have been laying in at Disney for MM+. This was especially annoying to me though because I stay for a long time (2 weeks or so) and the trade off is that I do a few hours of work a day remotely...which requires stable internet.

2) My shower controls were worn out. They are the type that you turn around clockwise to go from cold to hot. As a result, it wouldn't sit in a nice "medium" range, rather with a tap it would go from cold to scalding. I take pretty hot showers normally, so it didn't bother me (though some were less comfortable than others), but it made it pretty touchy to get the temp just right for the kid's showers / baths. If they maintained them or replaced them, this wouldn't be a gripe at all.

3) I wish I hadn't paid extra for a preferred room. The walls / windows / doors are thinner at Pop and the complex more compact than at the moderates I'd stayed at before, and I didn't take into account how load the Hippy Dippy pool (the main pool) can get during the day. I don't fault the people who were out there having a good time, but I would rather have had a garden view room in the 60s or 70s building. It would have been nearly as close, but much quieter for afternoon naps. Also, sometimes people come in the middle of the night (people flying in from the west coast on a late flight, or international flights), and I noted that a lot of times they'll let the kids go play unattended in the pool...which, of course means they are going to be kids...and likely be loud.

So, that's it.

All that being said, I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Since it sits right next to AoA, combined they have the best bus service of any of the resorts on property (as you can take either of them to or back from parks, and their stops tend to be next to each other), and I found the resort design and decor fun and pleasant.
