Is the Steam Trains Tour running while the trains are down?

Does anyone know if “The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour” is run while the trains are down?

I was at WDW 12/9 - 13. While looking at the train at the Main St. station, a train CM told me that, yes, the tour is still going on. You board a train at the Fantasyland Station which goes backward to the maintenance area behind MK.

Besides, I just checked the WDW website and tours are available on certain days of the week.

Good I was just going to query that....THANKS! ,,,.and going to call tomorrow because its not showing up in my plans on MDE but I show payment for it on my charge card....signed up before I knew it would be closed. Think I will call tomorrow, if one is to meet at 7:30 at front gate, I wonder if they shuttle you back to Fantasyland....or escort you.....still trying to figure out breakfast prior but think the Roaring Fork opens at 7:00AM and may have to snag a quick bite! Plan to take a Minnie Van as the buses are not running yet.....Hope they make the tour special in some other way as your ride is cut short.

It's my understanding that tours don't show up in MDE. @Rob562 can probably confirm.

My guess is that, like most tours, you meet right outside City Hall. You probably follow your guide to the Fantasyland station.

Is it still a thing that main street opens an hour before official time? Guess the 7:30 start time for tour avoids most of that traffic. :angelic:

Hi - are there any updates on this tour? I tried to book it and the woman on the phone couldn't find it in the system past the next couple of months. We'll book something else if it's down, but my husband has long wanted to take this tour and we have a perfect window.

Is it worth the tour without the full train ride?

We did the tour while the trains were down. Still got to ride the train, just not the full loop. We really enjoyed it. Bonus was getting to see main street absolutely empty! We are big train fans in general so we really enjoyed it.

Thank you, that's good to hear! I wonder why she couldn't see it in the system to book it? Even she was surprised and went to find some help before telling me to try again later.

We did the tour in February. It’s possible track construction, or Tron construction, is impacting the availability of the tour currently.

When are you trying to go? I know it’s only available on certain days...

Here’s what main street looks like empty!
