Ooh Good Morning Ladies & Gentlemen.. Excuse me if I'am sounding rather posh this morning but Ive just been reading today's food blog and review of The Grand Floridian afternoon tea party..Wow..Now even if I won the lottery there is no way I'd pick this resort to stay at,it's wayyyyyyyy too posh for silly old me..Id need a course on how to talk proper ( elocution ) and my suitcase would have fancy shirts and Versace pants. Now before all you GF fans start to fire your arrows at me.This is only my opinion.I'am from a working class environment and I'd feel so uncomfortable staying here. So to my question.Does anyone else have the same feeling ? Also has any of you stayed at the GF and wished you had picked another resort..Now remember,go easy on me,this is just my opinion and I'am curious ( as ever ) what your views on this Grand resort..P.S. I wouldn't mind having a wee nosey around ( before security nabs me ) just to people watch.;)

My DW loves to stay at the Grand Floridian, my DS loves the Contemporary so we alternate between them, personally I prefer the Wilderness Lodge, but I digress.
The lobby can be a little imposing but no one is walking around dressed in whites with a sweater tied around their neck and a racket in their hand saying “tennis anyone?” It is a Disney resort so there are lots of people in shorts and tee shirts. They have nice pools, good restaurants, nice shops, expensive but nice, and the resort is on the monorail so it fits our desires. We had afternoon tea once; it was part of my dear wife’s birthday present. I had to make up for telling our server at Whispering Canyon it was her birthday.

One Little Spark...
When they were building it, it was the only place I wanted to stay (and never did...Grandparents had a home nearby, so there was no need)...

As an adult, going back? I don't find it nearly as pretty as I used to, and I don't find it inviting at all. Nothing against the resort, but it just strikes me as pretentious.

With respect to "snobbery"...this could be a reflection of the venue I went into (the men's shop), but I went in with a question about the Skagen watch I'd bought the previous year which had a cracked crystal...and was treated very well.

I did NOT, however, enjoy 1900 Club Fare.

We stayed there for the first time in February and it was amazing. Never got that snobby feeling. I guess because I dont fit that mold :) We really enjoyed our stay. Kids loved it, too! (10 and 8). We will defintely be back. Many of the guests that were there we actually convention guests, not even Disney vacationers. I'm sure you get your fill of "money" guests, but I never felt as though people acted as thoug they were better then me.

There you go..Never judge a book by its cover..It gave me the impression of a La De Da place where "P" and " Q" s were abound, and where people lifted their little pinky to drink their tea..Guess I'am wrong..:(

No way. Screaming kids, parent breakdowns, and beer bottle drinking adults just like any other WDW resort. The guests just pay more to do it

If I ever choose to leave POFQ, it would be for AKL. One of the reasons, I really like POFQ is bc I feel so comfortable there. The reason I would love to stay at AKL is of course bc of the wonderful food options and bars. Plus the kids would love it.

GF just does not seem to be my speed. No offense to all my friends out there!!!

I'm with you Hatter. We stayed at GF ONCE in 2007, and after my first night, I wanted to switch to the Poly. I hated it. We went for 8 days for son's graduation/18th birthday. We saw a family with a small little boy, checking in. He was playing *airplane* with his sister. A CM behind the desk, shot the mother a dirty look, and the Dad went off. The child wasnt disruptive at all fro what I saw. The CM told the Dad to "control" his son. Are you kidding me?!?!?!?! Not once, but twice a manager was called. Now I admit, CM's have bad days, but unfortunately that was my first impression of GF. Never again....

The dear father sent a message, he wants to see you about what you're going to do to make amends to Mrs Hatter! He suggests a nice Disney Dooney bag with lots of Disney dollars in it for her to spend as she wishes!
