Is the Exposition-type ride dead?

After looking at the rides created at Epcot over the past several years(Test Track, Imagination institute, Soarin') and those abandoned (World of Motion, Journey, Seabase Alpha), will there ever be another exposition-type ride at disney?

The new rides are great, but I always find the highlight of my trip is Spaceship Earth, as is embodies the spirit of the original Epcot Center.

That's a very interesting question. There are a lot reasons why I am tending to think the answer is yes. So much of the exposition style ride seems connected to visions we had of the future and progress and a better world that seem to me connected to the "world's fair" idea of exposition (of course, I am thinking particularly of the 1964 New York World's Fair---- I am sure somebody must have studied all the connections between the 64 World's Fair and DL/WDW....both IASW and Carousel of Progress coming directly from there). This sort of belief in a "better world through electricity" or "they'll be colonies on Mars in your lifetime" (not presented like Mission:Space but like Horizons) does not seem to engage the visitors to WDW the way it did. The visitors want more thrills and less thinking. And they want their thinking to be interactive. SSE still survives I think because it tells a great story about the past....the present and future section are out of date and I think if the ride survives they will have to change that.

I wish those rides were still around, but I am afraid that the world has passed them by.
