Is The Beastly Kingdom concept dead?

PLTram Somebody over at the Disboards site is claiming today that a CM had just told them that they'd heard that the Beastly Kingdom was just announced as a "go." They said it would be located by Camp Minnie-Mickey and open in a couple of years. Rumor, or true?

That is where it was to go from what I heard before. I don't see it as a "GO" staus right now.

I didn't realize they had removed the dragon from the AK logo. Have they in fact removed it? I thought it was still apart of the logo when I was there last August.

Personally speaking, I hope Beastly Kingdom isn't completely dead. Out of all the rumours we've heard over the last few years, Beastly Kingdom and EE have captured my imagine the most. Since we're getting EE, I would like to think we'll get Beastly too, and if not, let me have my fantasy for now .

Anyway, I don't wanna get too specific, but first in line is a "mini-land" sort of thing, followed by a new "continent". BK is drifting around somewhere after all that.

As always, subject to change at any time.

^ Confirming and adding to what he says. The "continent" he speaks of is the land down under. ;)

The Dragon is still on the logo. As for it being in Camp Minnie Mickey, from the concept art of what the area is supposed to look like in conjunction with the park, the area BK was supposed to be built is no home to the AK Bus Loop, Parking lot, and Cast Member areas. I also never liked the idea of it being in the Camp Minnie Mickey area. It throws off the balance of the park to have the entrance to a land within another land. It's the same as putting the entrance to a North American land in Africa.

As for a North American land...Camp Minnie Mickey is exactly what that is. If they had enough space to put the LK show in Africa, Camp Minnie Mickey would keep true to the theme of a North American camp out / wilderness. If they got rid of those Character meet and greet kiosks, that is a prime location for a dark ride, with the show building in the cast area behind the wall. One thing AK needs before another coaster...is a nice dark ride.

I thought Joe Rhode wanted to nix the idea of Austrailia. Many of the animals in this region are nocturnal, not to mention small. An attraction that featured them would be hard to pull off.

hahaha- great point!

..anyway, theres a great number of unique animals an australian section could bring to the park. from kangaroos to koalas, emus, dingos, and the enormous and infamous australian crocodiles.. i think an australian section would be awesome, and frankly i'm a little suprised we don't have one already.

Sigh. Doens't mini-land always mean crappy, off-the-shelf, barely themed kiddie rides? Didn't AK just get Chester and Hester's?

"The dingo ate my baby!" Sorry I couldn't resist...I would like to see some Australian animals in AK. I've always had a thing for koalas and roos, I'd like to see 'em in the park. Thread drift alert: Africa has Kilimanjaro Safaris and Asia has Kali and will have Everest, so what type of attraction would the Australian area have?

P.S. No mini-lands please. Look at Chester and Hester's and A Bug's Land @ DCA: pitiful.

HAHAHA...My brother and I say that all the time:lol:

As for Mini Lands...I have never visted FFF, but I have been to Dino Rama, and I love that area. I know it wasn't the most expensive, but it fits right in with the theme. As for the carnival games, They should not be in a Disney park, but they have been in AK ever since it opened, at the 1999 and 2000 Dinosaur Jubilees. The games we have now are atleast themed to the area. Compared to what was in the area before, Dino Rama looks like an E-Ticket...

And not all Mini Lands are bad...Toontown, Birthdayland, Starland, and whatever else they called it, were all Mini Lands. If Mermaid Lagoon were to go forward, that would be a Mini Land...Not all Mini Lands are bad..(Whoa, I said Mini Lands to much lol)

To me it seems like the next area they'll focus on is The Camp Minnie-Mickey area...after all its been around for longer than it was intended...There is still space to build on in that area...big enough for a Beastly Kingdom...who knows....but seeing as the other parts of the park have more than one big attraction...the camp needs to be replaced with either a new continent or a miniland...I would love to see BK built soon after EE, but I'm not holding my breath...

Dino Rama.....it fits right in with the theme.

No. They've attempted to make excuses as to why it would/could fit in, but it in no way fits in with the concept of the origional Dinoland U.S.A.

you used to walk into the small dig-site town past excavation site's and dirty run-down mine-shack type buildings.. the area had a really neat, really unique feel.

-now- you walk in and BAM! directly infront of you is a hodgepodge of (very) brightly colored carnival attractions. everyone's attention is immediately drawn to this area, as they completely miss/walk right by all of the neat little details and elements that make dinoland so wonderful.

I will admit, I like the idea of the mini-land, I kind of like the story behind 'chester and hester' and their roadside attraction, however, I feel it was simply constructed/placed incorrectly.

can it be fixed? with a little imagineering- yes, easily. [trust me, I've done it myself by means of drawings and computer renderings, and plan to do so in person once I get into WDI.]

I don't think a Cast member would know. Wait until a press release or Grizz says so.

I'm an entertainment cm at DAK and I haven't heard anything. We knew about Everest way before it was announced. I think we would hear something about it since it would probably affect our stage.

Dino-rama does fit because if it wasn't for Chester and Hester, the Dino Institute would have never sit foot in Dinoland USA.

Anyway, there is a story that connects everything in that area except for Tarzan....

Shouldn't Tarzan be in another Continent?

Story's a little bit backwards there. Chester and Hester built where they did because of the Dino-Institute. The Institute is the foundation of Dinoland. Why would a scientific institution follow a tacky tourist trap?

Tarzan is where it is simply because Theater in the Wild is the only theater that could house it. Festival of the Lion King would fit much better in Africa than Camp Minnie-Mickey wouldn't it? Stage shows don't have to adhere to location as much as rides do.

Tarzan wasn't the original show in that theater. Jungle Book was there when the park opened. Of course that area wasn't themed the way it is now. Lion King was originally supposed to be in Africa and Camp Minnie Mickey was supposed to be Beastly Kingdom. When that idea was put on hold they needed something in that area so a temporary theater was built and FoLK was put in. The theater was recently made permanent when they enclosed it.

Because Chester and Hester are amature Peleontologists, they were digging the empty dinoland when they made a huge fossil find, so they called their good old friend (That one women from the Dino Institute) and told them about the find and they stuck around to build Rino Rama.

This was from a Disney magazine a couple issues back.
