Is spring break worse or better (crowd wise) than Christmas time?

Just returned from my first Christmas time Disney trip (12/21 - 12/25). I was worried about what it would be like. I was expecting EVERY single ride/show/attraction to have 2 hour waits...and I can honestly say that it wasn't that much worse than when we go in the summer, maybe a little bit here and there, but overall, ok. It is kind of hard to compare because my wife is expecting our first children (yes, twins) and so we had to avoid all the thrill type stuff, but that is ok, because it allowed us to focus all our time on Soarin' and were able to ride it 7 times during our visit. 3 times on Christmas day.

All that being said, since my wife is a teacher, we can only go when school is out. And since we'll be having kids, when they are old enough, we'll only take them when school is out. And we really really really liked the cooler temperatures of december. So my question is, is the week of spring break any more crowded than 12/21 - 12/25? Because we thought it was completely managable, with a little planning and willingness to get up early of course. And for the record, I'm fairly certain I was the first person in Epcot on christmas morning (not counting those who did the early breakfast whatever thing).

Better. Think of Winter break as a Summer break but in only 2 or 3 weeks. Spring break is more of the wild teenagers happy to be out of school... :lookaroun

Spring break is generally better because Spring break times can vary quite a bit from school to school, county to county, state to state, etc. It is pretty much a given that all schools nationwide will be out for the last 2 weeks of the year but Spring break can fall anywhere between late February to early April which spreads the crowds out a bit. I would avoid easter weekend if at all possible as it tends to be the busiest and on par with the Christmas/New Years week crowds.

Being at WDW from Dec. 21-25 means that you started out with slightly less of a crowd than if you'd started a day or 2 later.

But MasterYoda has the right idea. Almost everyone has the same week or 10 days off from school around Christmas. But spring breaks vary widely across local school districts all over the country.

In other words (I'm TOTALLY making up numbers here), 99% of school districts have off during the time around Christmas. But we can assume that during maybe a 5-week span in the spring that only 20% of schools have any particular week off. Therefore, you'd surmise the crowds would be more concentrated during Christmas week.

I'm assuming your username means you are also from Cleveland, like me, and being that I'm in Phoenix where its 20 degrees colder than home, I'm not too happy.

Anyways, I went over spring break last year and I was presently surprised how less crowded it was than any other time I've been there. I have never been there at Christmas, but it sounds like its pretty darn crowded there.

The post above me sounds about right. I'm a teacher, and I know my girlfriend (who teaches in a different district) had a spring break that was like 3 weeks different than mine last year. Some districts due it the week before Easter, some do it the week after, and some do it nowhere near.

Ive been during both Christmas time and Spring Break. Spring Break is the better optionChristmas really isnt that bad though, if you know how to work the system.
