Is Space Mountain causing the Crowds at MK?

So we have all been following the Capacity levels at Magic kingdom for the last couple of days. i was just wondering if a reason for people coming to MK this week is to ride Space Mountain and TTA for the last time for a while. Since they will be closing on the 19th. So can that be a reason?

I think it has a lot to do with the shear amount of people currently in WDW but SM being close will cause all other attractions to have longer lines. It is a major E-ticket that is down and it goes to show how badly MK needs another E-ticket.

Nope.
SM and TTA are running at full capacity, with no real indication that guests are making any sort of special trip to ride it before it goes down in...umm....9 days.
The crowds this week are a result of a "perfect storm" of Easter week and heavily discounted room and ticket offers.

I thought they had already closed?

I know I read this info somewhere, i just can not for the life of me remember the answer. Forgive me for re-hashing the old. Is the TTA going to be down the whole time SM will be down?

That's too bad about the TTA. I was hoping it would still be open while Space Mountain was closed.. Oh well, I'll just have to talk hubby into going again either this year or next!

LOTS of folks are choosing not to participate in the "economic slowdown".
Folks are out enjoying themselves and good for them!
Disney has provided incredible deals and people are taking advantage of it.
We cant go back untill 2011 (May), I cant imagine the deals still going on then..
However, we dont goto Disney when crowds are near this bad.
We go in May or Sept. 2 of the "slowest times" to go.
Not real slow obviously, but great times to go non the less.

I'll tell you though, it's going to be miserable when it's down for the sheer fact that a lot of people wait a long time for that attraction. When we popped over last Thursday (the 2nd) for a couple hours in the late afternoon/early evening, the standby wait was at 90 minutes, but the line continued all the way to the line for Astro Orbiter. (Meaning it was longer than 90 minutes since waits mean from the sign, not the end of the line.) And this was on a Thursday - not even a weekend!

When it goes down for reno, all those people are going to be looking for other attractions to ride. (In addition to the nice, steady, crowd-eating TTA as well.)

I don't envy the congestion it's going to make this summer.

I did take a special pre-SM closing trip to ride the classic mountain one more time, but I think the huge crowds can be attributed more to Easter, Spring Break for schools, and the buy 4 get 3 deal that is going on.

I know I made a special 2 day trip down to ride each of them again before they went down last week, but fans like myself and a lot of you are certainly not the norm.

Maybe people will discover one of my hidden favourites: CoP!
